Jiao Ting, the "faceless" evil star, is a character in the classical Chinese masterpiece "Water Margin". He was originally from the Zhongshan Prefecture and was born into a sumo family, which inherited the skills of the 36 dragon wrestlers. For some reason, Jiao Ting lived in the rivers and lakes and became a homeless man with no fixed residence.
In the story of "Water Margin", Jiao Ting met Li Kui on the rivers and lakes, and the two had similar personalities, Li Kui was one of the heroes of Liangshan, so he introduced him to Liangshanbo to join the gang. At the time of the Liangshan Reunion, Jiao Ting was ranked ninety-eighth, given the asterisk of the Earth Evil Star, and served as an infantry general.
Jiao Ting's nickname "Faceless" may refer to his lack of a fixed identity and status in the rivers and lakes on the one hand, and on the other hand, it also hints at his fearless character and courage to face any difficulties and challenges. In the water margin of Yangzhou Commentary, Jiao Ting is one of the Eight Wonders of Liangshan, three feet tall, with a head like a fence bucket, and a piece of flesh growing in front of his head, which has been drooping to his chin, covering his face, making people unable to see his facial features. In the commentary, he is the owner of the second village of Withered Tree Mountain, and he and Bao Xu are sworn brothers, and they are good at iron head skills.
During his days in Liangshanbo, Jiao Ting, as a general of the infantry army, actively participated in a number of battles and missions. However, in the course of the expedition to Fangla, he was killed in the battle of Runzhou, showing great loyalty and bravery. After his death, he was posthumously named Yoshitsuro in recognition of his loyalty and sacrifice.
