On the morning of December 18, 2023, the Nanchang Intermediate People's Court carried out the death sentence of Lao Rongzhi, a criminal who was convicted of multiple felonies, in accordance with an order issued by the Supreme People's Court. For committing crimes such as intentional homicide, robbery, and kidnapping, Lao Rongzhi went through strict legal procedures and finally accepted legal sanctions.
Lao Rongzhi, born in Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province in 1974, worked as a primary school teacher at Jiujiang Petrochemical Company. In 1994, she met and fell in love with her boyfriend Fa Ziying, and then the two embarked on the road of crime together. Between 1996 and 1999, Lao Rongzhi and Fa Ziying committed a number of serious kidnappings, robberies, and homicides in Nanchang, Wenzhou, Changzhou, Hefei, and other places, resulting in a total of seven deaths.
In 1999, Fa Ziying was arrested in Hefei and executed in accordance with the law. Lao Rongzhi, on the other hand, began a 20-year fugitive career until November 28, 2019 in Xiamen**.
According to the Nanchang Intermediate People's Court, Lao Rongzhi met with the victim's relatives before the execution and expressed his apology. In addition, she also had a final communication with her sister and asked her family to help pay off Huabei's arrears, showing a trace of conscience in her human nature.
Lao Rongzhi's criminal acts have brought deep pain and irreparable losses to the victims' families. Regarding the news of Lao Rongzhi's execution, Liu Jingjie, a lawyer for the victim's family, said that this was an expected result, and hoped that this would bring some comfort and a sense of justice to the victim's family.
The case of Lo Wing-chi reminds us once again that no matter what kind of hardship an individual encounters, it cannot be an excuse to trample on the law and infringe on the lives and property of others. The fairness and solemnity of the law brook no violation, and every criminal will eventually be punished by law.
