Plants everywhere are a gift from nature to human beings, and they are often overlooked by us because they are too common.
Think about it, how long has it been since you've lowered your head to admire a plant?Do you know what characteristics and unique values they all have?
In the book "Seeing Fanghua Again: Chinese Plants in Our Eyes", 21 naturalists from the Liancenter show us 76 high-definition naturalist paintings that they have meticulously created.
They take animals and plants as the theme of their creations, and use realistic and concrete techniques to reflect the original natural state of animals and plants, and faithfully express the morphological characteristics and environmental factors of individual species.
From this, we can learn that some plants can be used for medicinal purposes, some plants can be used as food, and some plants can be used to decorate our lives. It is a part of our lives, giving everything they have for humanity.
Each plant in the book is accompanied by a popular science text or a painter's creative journey, allowing us to see the magic and beauty of plants, and arousing people's yearning for nature - wanting to be close to, understand nature, and have a sense of love.
From these native plants, I saw a total of 76 lifelike plants such as the familiar nasturtium, wild lily, hibiscus, pomegranate, yueji, rose, pepper, peony, chrysanthemum, kiwi, and many unfamiliar earthy incense, arborvitae, oil-dotted grass, etc.
Who would want to destroy such a beautiful plant at will?
These naturalist paintings are presented to the public through different art types, including acrylic, watercolor, drawing, colored pencil, ink line, and gongbi.
For me, who likes to draw, I feel like I've really found a treasure. Because these paintings are not only pleasing to the eye and healing, but also can be used as a material for painting.
The most important thing is that it comprehensively displays more details of the plant, and the different parts of the plant are dissected in detail and illustrated, so that people can understand the whole picture of the plant at a glance and very clearly.
And finally:
Plants are all around us, they are an indispensable part of nature, but there are many plants that are in crisis, so the painters hope that through these paintings, everyone can understand nature, love nature, protect these plants, and live in harmony with nature.
For example, Gastrodia gastrodia has been rated as a vulnerable species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, is a second-class protected plant, and is also a traditional Chinese medicine and has been included in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia.
It is a rare and precious ornamental plant unique to China, commonly known as the pigeon tree, known as the "living fossil", and is a treasure among the national first-class key protected plants.
After learning about these plants, I couldn't help but stop and look at the plants that I had neglected before, observe their changes from season to season, and think about drawing them one day.
In addition, for these plants around us, I hope we can take more care of them, build a beautiful home with them, and make the flowers of life bloom more beautifully.
