Cargo Lala New Year Shopping Festival
We eat three meals a day, chatting with each other, unhurried, and occasionally hear people talk about food security. It seems to be closely related to everyone, but it seems to have nothing to do with yourself.
2023 is coming to an end, and I want to talk to you about it. Last year was the 19th consecutive year of bumper harvest, and this year is the 20th consecutive year of bumper harvest. Our annual grain output has exceeded 1.3 trillion catties for 9 consecutive years!
In 2023, the country's total grain output will be 695.41 million tons (1,390.8 billion catties), an increase of 8.88 million tons (17.8 billion catties) over 2022, an annual increase of 13%!This is data published by the National Bureau of Statistics.
Attentive friends may find that this year's grain is not only an increase in income, but even the increase in the amount of income is also with an auspicious atmosphere - 8.88 million tons, three consecutive eights, sent together!
On this festive day, many people also have questions about happiness, such as ours, we are very curious, what crops are included in our statistics? How is their production calculated? Is it reported and summarized from farmers after the autumn harvest?
Today, let's talk about these questions!
In the statistical terminology of the Bureau of Statistics, "grain" can be classified according to the production season into summer grain, early rice and autumn harvest
According to the classification of varieties, it can be divided into cereals, legumes and potatoes;Cereals include rice, wheat, corn, millet, sorghum, barley, oats, buckwheat, etc.;Legumes include soybeans, mung beans, red beans, etc.;Potatoes include potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc.
Therefore, the annual grain production refers to the total annual production of cereals, legumes and potatoes in the country, which is also commonly referred to as the total grain production. Some friends may ask, do you want to peel your skin? How do you calculate the weight of potatoes and sweet potatoes?
This is also explained in the Bureau of Statistics**, cereals are calculated according to the threshing raw grains, beans are calculated according to the dried beans after the pods are removed, and potatoes (potatoes and sweet potatoes) are converted into grain production at 5:1 of the weight of fresh potatoes.
Now that we know the types of grains, how are the yields of these grains counted?
I checked it, and the National Bureau of Statistics has an "Explanation on the System and Methods of Grain Output Surveys", and the statistical survey of grain output adopts the method of sampling surveys of major varieties, typical surveys of small varieties, or comprehensive statistics. It mainly includes two core data:1sown area of food crops;2.Unit yield of food crops.
As long as you have learned addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and know these two data, you can calculate the crop yield by multiplying the two items. The total grain production can be obtained by weighting the yields of various crops and summing them.
1.How do you get the data on the sown area?
At present, our sown area survey mainly uses satellite remote sensing images and spatial sampling technology to select survey samples. What is the sample size?A total of nearly 10,000 sample villages were sampled across the country, and each sample village was sampled with three sample plots of about 60 acres.
After these samples are determined, how can the sown area be determined?During the survey season, the investigators and auxiliary investigators of the grassroots survey teams of the National Bureau of Statistics will conduct sampling surveys on the sown area of all natural plots in the plot and its cover. Based on these basic data, the provincial survey teams deduce the provincial grain sowing area.
2.How to calculate the unit yield of crops?
More than 5,000 sample villages and nearly 30,000 natural plots were sampled nationwide, and 3-5 small sample squares of 10 square feet were selected according to the requirements in each natural plot, and the average unit yield of grain crops in each province was calculated by actual cutting and measurement of grain crops in the sample square.
In this way, the grain production of each province can be calculated, and the total grain production of the whole country can be obtained after summarization.
It is worth mentioning that the "Third National Land Survey Main Data Bulletin" released in August 2021 (referred to as the "Three Adjustments" shows that the national cultivated land area at the end of 2019 was 191.8 billion mu, a decrease of 1 compared with the "second adjustment" data in 20101.3 billion acres. However, during this period, the annual production of grain has increased year by year! Therefore, for the statistics of grain production, it is necessary to establish a variety of information channels and multi-channel data to corroborate each other in order to ensure the relative accuracy of the data
In any case, we feel relieved that we have received 20 consecutive years of bumper harvests, but does ensuring production mean food security? What do you think about this question?Feel free to share your views in the comment section.
I think that production is only the most superficial factor in food security, because there is a country in South America that produces three times as much food per capita a year, and they still have 50% of their people hungry!
Okay, thank you for your company and one-click triple, don't talk about the grand narrative, just talk about the livelihood of the people, follow me, and share with you a planner's worldview of agriculture and agriculture, let's see you next time!
