Bethesda has announced that the update to the next-gen version of the open-world wasteland adventure RPG Fallout 4 has been postponed until 2024, nearly 10 years after the original (November 2015), and officials have said that more time is needed to bring everyone back to the Federation.
Fallout 4 will be available as a next-gen update, first revealed in October 2022, and is said to be a free update that will support 4K resolution quality modes for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X S, as well as a high-frame-rate performance mode, as well as bug fixes and the addition of Creation Club content.
The story of Fallout 4 continues 10 years after the day of the Fallout 3 nuclear explosion (October 23, 2277), when the protagonist's family is sent to Vault 111, and after 210 years of freezing in the dormant chamber, the player returns to the surface as the sole survivor and leaves Boston to find their son and avenge the death of their spouse.
Bethesda introduced a similar update for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in 2021, with enhanced graphics and faster loading speeds, taking the experience to the next level, and while Fallout 4 is now available on Xbox Series X, players are presumably looking forward to a high-quality post-nuclear world.
