There is only one key principle between you and the master

Hello, I am itbi, a long-termist practitioner.

Today I would like to talk to you about a concept: "deliberate practice", mastering this concept can make you progress faster.

1. It's better to work hard than not to work hard.

Taiwanese cartoonist Tsai Chih-chung once said: "There must be a method to work hard, and hard work without a method is useless, and hard work is only a little better than no hard work."

I believe that you have worked hard to accomplish one thing in your life or work.

You work overtime every day, keep yourself busy, and work hard as hard as you can.

You think that hard work will pay off, and you often use this phrase to motivate yourself.

But after a long time, you still haven't made much progress, and you start complaining and giving up on yourself.

I started to think that the phrase "hard work pays off" was a lie.

From then on, you stopped working hard, and began to lie flat and rot, living what you call a "Buddhist" life.

But is it really useless to put in the effort?

Yes, it is really useless to simply work without direction and method, and it will wear away your enthusiasm and will a little bit.

Therefore, we must not simply work hard, but have a method of effort.

2. Practice deliberately.

What is a methodical effort?

This requires you to first understand the concept of "deliberate practice".

In the book "Cognitive Awakening", Mr. Zhou Ling mentioned a concept, which means that in the process of practicing long-termism and the law of value accumulation, we should follow the principle of "deliberate practice" and expand our ability range little by little at the edge of our comfort zone.

Each of us has a range of abilities.

Within the range of capabilities, this is called the "comfort zone".

In this range, it is easy for us to do things, but it is also easy to get bored, and doing things within the scope of our ability for a long time will not allow us to grow.

So, it's not much use to work hard in your comfort zone.

So, what do we do if we want to grow?

Constantly working on the edge of your comfort zone is called the "stretch zone".

For example, when we write every day, you can set a goal for yourself.

For example, deliberately practice the title ability for a period of time to make the title more appealing;

For a while, deliberately practice the framing skills in the content and so on.

Keep practicing deliberately at the edge of your comfort zone, allowing the stretching zone to slowly become your comfort zone.

Follow the principle of deliberate practice, improve little by little, and in the long run, your comfort zone will continue to grow.

You'll be able to take on more difficult tasks.

Therefore, in order to grow, you need to know the concept of "deliberate practice" and practice deliberately on the edge of your comfort zone, the stretching zone.

So, how do you judge the edge of your comfort zone?

I'd like to talk about my writing experience.

When I first learned the concept of "user thinking", I didn't understand it very well.

But there is a general meaning in my mind, which is not to always express yourself, but to learn to provide value to users.

For a while, I stopped writing with more "I" every day, but changed the pronoun to "you" and "my problem" to "your problem".

Replace "I come to a conclusion" to "We come to a conclusion".

Although it was painful at first, I struggled for a while.

However, after a period of deliberate practice, I gradually mastered the concept and method of writing "user thinking".

The content written in this way is also more acceptable to the reader.

So, if you haven't been writing for a while and don't feel like you've made much progress, then you have to learn to practice deliberately, and you'll grow faster.

3. Use the right method and do the right thing, and you will definitely get better and better.

This sentence was said by Li Xiaolai in the book "The Road to Wealth and Freedom".

What's the right way?

For example, the user's thinking in writing, such as the framework of the content, such as the concept of "deliberate practice".

What is the right thing to do?

For example, writing, exercising, reading, thinking, altruism, self-study, etc. are all right things to do.

Follow the right method, do the right thing, you grow efficiently, you get better and better.

Kill more than one stone. In short, I hope that after reading this article, you will have an understanding of the concept of "deliberate practice" and put it into practice in real life.
