Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has reportedly emerged from the competition to sign 18-year-old Corinthians youngster Gabriel Moscaldo. The two clubs have verbally agreed a £17 million deal that includes a surcharge of up to £1.7 million based on the player's future milestones. Moscaldo has made 25 appearances for Corinthians in the past year and has attracted interest from several European clubs with his excellent performances.
PSG have beaten other high-profile Premier League teams such as Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal, who are also keen to sign the Brazilian midfielder. The move comes as Paris Saint-Germain strengthens their squad in the second half of the season. Mauricio Pochettino's Chelsea have previously tried to sign Moscaldo as the club looks to recruit promising players from South America.
However, they seem to have lost the chance to fight for the young international. After Chelsea struggled to get a chance to play in the main game, another new Brazilian signing, 19-year-old Andre Santos, has been loaned to Nottingham Forest. However, he failed to get much playing time and could be recalled. Paris Saint-Germain have a two-week break and will face Toulouse in the French Super Cup final in their bid for their first title of the season. It is likely that Moscaldo will make his debut in this game.
