On January 9th, the 7th Northern B&B Conference with the theme of "New Development of Cohesion B&B and Drawing a New Future of the Countryside" was held in Yanqing District. More than 180 people, including homestay industry associations, industry experts, OTA platforms, travel experts and first-class reporters, attended the conference to break the problem for the development of homestays under the new normal, and promote the coordinated development, resource integration and win-win cooperation of homestays in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, north and south.

The conference was guided by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, hosted by the people of Yanqing District, undertaken by the Yanqing District Culture and Tourism Bureau, and co-organized by the B&B Branch of the Yanqing District Tourism Association and the Yanqing District B&B Alliance. At the opening ceremony, relevant persons in charge from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and Yanqing District delivered speeches respectively, summarizing the highlights of the development of homestays and pointing out the direction for the next step of homestay and rural tourism development. The relevant persons in charge of the Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and the Cultural Relics Bureau jointly awarded the plaques to the first batch of 15 municipal-level "Great Wall People" country houses. Among them, Yanqing has a total of 5 homestays on the list: Yuanxiangli, Shiguang Great Wall, Ziyouzi, Yueshanshe, and Lijia. "The Great Wall Family" is a homestay cultural brand that Beijing implements to improve the quality and upgrade of rural tourism, promotes the integration of cultural and tourism resource elements, and builds and cultivates around the "three cultural belts".
A number of industry experts conducted an in-depth analysis of the development of B&B. The Yanqing District Bureau of Culture and Tourism issued and interpreted the "Measures for Promoting the High-quality Development of Boutique B&Bs by the Culture and Tourism Bureau of Yanqing District, Beijing", as well as released the four-season boutique routes of Yanqing B&Bs, and announced the list of scenic villages in Yanqing District in 2023. Shifosi Village, Badaling Town, and Huozhuoying Village, Kangzhuang Town, were awarded the Golden Village Scenic Village;Jiangangling Village, Jingzhuang Town, Shangmo Village, Yongning Town, and Houhelongmiao Village, Zhangshanying Town, were awarded the Silver Village Scenic Village. Scenic villages are innovative measures to upgrade the quality of rural tourism, transform to high-quality development, and create rural vacation destinations in Yanqing District, promoting the standardized development of rural tourism and the linkage of the industrial chain.
Zeng Bowei, director of the China Tourism Economy and Policy Research Center of the School of Tourism of Beijing Union University, said: "As a breakthrough in the revitalization of Yanqing's countryside, the homestay industry is an important starting point for the transformation and upgrading of the tourism industry in Yanqing District. In the past ten years, Yanqing has formed a series of homestay brands in combination with regional culture and folk culture, and the number of homestays, reception capacity, and service capacity have been greatly improved. ”
The "Measures for Promoting the High-quality Development of Boutique B&Bs issued by the Culture and Tourism Bureau of Yanqing District, Beijing" issued by the Yanqing District Bureau of Culture and Tourism provides policy guarantee and direction guidance for the construction of "symbiotic communities" with B&Bs as the core and the "B&B+" project in the region. Promote the high-quality development of rural homestays with 13 measures from five aspects, further promote the prosperity of rural industries, and broaden the channels for farmers to increase their income and get rich. This year, Yanqing District will select 10 high-quality development demonstration homestays with outstanding performance in cultural symbiosis, industrial symbiosis, and "homestay +".
At the same time, the "B&B Country Walk" four-season boutique route released by the Yanqing District Bureau of Culture and Tourism integrates Yanqing B&B, scenic spots, food and other cultural and tourism resources, with four boutique tourism routes in spring, summer, autumn and winter as the main line, covering the most beautiful scenery of Yanqing rural tourism in the four seasons, and issuing an invitation to tourists from all over the country to visit the most beautiful Winter Olympic City.
As a grand event in our industry, the North B&B Conference brings together experts in the industry, major data analysis platforms, including all our practitioners, to develop the future development trend of B&B. The launch of B&B+ this year represents that modern B&B is no longer just a space for accommodation, but more often has become a communication platform covering intangible cultural heritage, food, and local characteristics. In addition to Yanqing, the conference brought together the surrounding suburban counties, including the homestay alliances in various regions, to jointly connect them into a series of high-quality products and routes, integrate resources more effectively, and expand its influence. In recent years, Yanqing District has been based in Beijing and radiating to the north, taking the lead in proposing the establishment of the Northern B&B Alliance, and the North B&B Conference has been successfully held for six sessions, providing a useful exploration for promoting the development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei B&B cooperation. At this conference, the cultural tourism recommendation officer from Xinghe County, Ulanchabu City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region introduced the overall situation of Xinghe County's cultural and tourism resources, and recommended the Sumu Hometown B&B in the Sumu Mountain Scenic Area and the Wusheng B&B project in the Lili Sea View Area, and invited the best and entrepreneurs from all walks of life to inspect and experience and seek common development.
The conference also set up a roundtable dialogue session, where the person in charge of the B&B Branch of Yanqing District Tourism Association and the Yanqing District Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the national first-class B&B Dutch operator, the Southern B&B Alliance, and the Beidaihe B&B Association jointly ** how local culture empowers the development of B&B.
It is understood that Yanqing District has been developing homestays since 2014, from scratch, from point layout to global development, from "staying in Yanqing" to micro-vacation destinations, in the past 10 years, adhering to the top-level design first, policy-led development, and the best enterprises to sing, taking advantage of the Winter Olympics and the World Horticultural Expo, and gradually forming the "Yanqing model" of homestay development, and the brand awareness of "northern homestay to see Yanqing" has become increasingly prominent. At present, Yanqing District is based in Beijing and radiates to the north, focusing on the three "golden business cards" of the Great Wall, the World Garden and the Winter Olympics, and has created 350 brand B&Bs with distinct themes and covering the whole area, with a total of more than 7,000 beds, including 1 national Grade A B&B, 2 B-class B&Bs and 63 C-level B&Bs, ranking first in the city in terms of the number of grade B&Bs.
On the same day, the "B&B New Year" activity in Yanqing District also officially kicked off. In the B&B New Year product display area, there are a dazzling array of souvenirs, food, and cultural and creative products from various B&Bs, including exquisite paper-cutting, sugar man candy paintings and interesting New Year's customs activities with traditional Chinese charm, as well as characteristic iron hawthorn juice from Dazhuang Ke Township, dried begonias and Jingzhuang gifts from Shiguang Great Wall Boutique B&B in Badaling Town, showing the integration of Yanqing B&B and various industries of culture, tourism, sports, commerce and agriculture, creating a feast of cultural and tourism products in the northern winter, attracting many participants to watch and take pictures.
In addition, during the special activities of the "Yanqing People's Home" B&B for the New Year, the majority of tourists can experience the production of intangible cultural heritage handicrafts, watch traditional opera, Jingdong drum performances, feel the New Year's goods collection, taste the Spring Festival family banquet, and watch the three activities of ice sculpture, ice hanging, and rock sugar gourd winter "ice" in the small courtyard of the B&B full of festive atmosphere, and feel the different flavor of the New Year.
