On January 4, the China Meteorological Administration announced the results of the 2023 National Meteorological Science Education Base Work Assessment, and 87 national meteorological science education bases were rated as excellent.

In order to thoroughly implement the spirit of the important instructions of the general secretary on meteorological work and the important exposition on science popularization work, and promote the implementation of the "Outline of the Action Plan for Scientific Literacy for All (2021-2035)" and the "Outline for High-quality Development of Meteorology (2022-2035)", the China Meteorological Administration organized the Secretariat of the Chinese Meteorological Society to carry out annual assessment of 461 national meteorological science popularization education bases. After the preliminary filling, preliminary evaluation, expert review and social publicity and other procedures, 62 comprehensive science popularization bases such as ** meteorological stations, 22 demonstration campus meteorological stations such as Huayun Jinsui Meteorological Station of the Primary School Affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and 3 grassroots disaster prevention and mitigation communities (townships) such as Nanshan Village Meteorological Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Science Park in Pingyang County, Zhejiang Province, were rated as "2023 Excellent National Meteorological Science Education Base" due to their outstanding work achievements.

In addition, 371 national meteorological science education bases passed the 2023 annual assessment.

The meteorological science popularization base is an important carrier for carrying out meteorological science popularization work, and an important window to display the image of meteorological departments, the hard power of science and technology, and the soft power of culture. Strengthening the construction of meteorological science popularization bases is of great significance for improving the comprehensive ability of disaster prevention and mitigation of the whole society and improving the quality of meteorological science for the whole people.
