At the Reagan Defense Forum, US Secretary of Commerce Raimondo pointed out in no uncertain terms that China is not a friend of the United States, but the greatest challenge of the United States. Although Raimondo's status seemed out of place compared to the U.S. military in the room, she actively linked the Commerce Department to national defense, a move that undoubtedly sounded the alarm bell for China.
In addition to Raimondo's clear demarcation of the line with China, the US Department of Defense, the Pentagon, also seems to be beginning to take a tougher stance on China.
The Pentagon "declared war" on China
In his speech, Charles Brown, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, pointed out that the US defense department, the Pentagon, is fully prepared for a potential military conflict with China.
Brown's remarks appear to be a response to the results of a recent US poll on Sino-US relations. According to the survey, more than 51 percent of Americans believe that China is the "biggest threat" facing the United States, while more than 74 percent of Americans believe that a conflict between China and the United States could break out in the next five years.
These figures not only show the American public's concern about the current tensions in the U.S.-China relationship, but also hint at their expectations for a possible future military conflict.
The US policy toward China is mired in contradictions
In fact, Brown's perception is not uncommon in the United States. For example, at the beginning of this year, Mike Minihan of the U.S. Air Mobility and Logistics Command publicly stated that a conflict between China and the United States was expected in 2025 and asked his subordinate units to be prepared to respond to a military conflict between China and the United States.
Both of these voices reflect the views of the top level of the US side and hint at a deeper problem: within the US military, a consensus has been formed that a military conflict between China and the United States seems inevitable.
As the discerning can see, despite the public statements of the United States ** Biden seeking peaceful coexistence with China, the actual actions of the United States seem to be taking a different path. The recent incident in which a US warship entered the waters near Ren'ai Jiao without permission is the latest manifestation of the contradiction in US policy toward China.
China's response will be more restrained than the U.S. provocation. In the face of these challenges, China has always maintained a calm and restrained attitude.
There must be a war between China and the United States
This situation raises a deeper question: Is it really inevitable that there will be a conflict between China and the United States?
Indeed, given the current international political environment and tensions between the two countries, it does seem difficult to find an effective way to avoid conflict. Therefore, the international community and citizens of all countries should be mentally prepared for a possible conflict between China and the United States.
At the same time, in analyzing the complex landscape of U.S.-China relations, we must recognize that conflicts are not confined to the military sphere, but are in fact already unfolding in other areas.
In this case, China should take the following steps to deal with the tensions created by the United States.
First, history has taught us that facing challenges head-on is an effective means of resolving conflicts. Looking back at the Korean War in the 50s of the last century, despite the disparity in strength between China and the United States, the bold actions of the Chinese People's Volunteers won long-term peace for the country.
Second, it is of utmost importance to expand international cooperation and strengthen international relations. China needs to build more international partnerships to ensure diversified support in any potential conflict.
Finally, and most importantly, be well-rounded. The United States has become a world hegemon because of its development in many aspects. Only when China achieves a prominent position in various fields around the world can it strengthen its strength to contend with the United States.
In any case, in the face of challenges, we must dare to rise head-on and not flinch.
As the saying goes, "if you don't make a hit, it's just a blockbuster". In the confrontation with the United States, we must always be vigilant, and once we act, we must ensure that one blow is hit!
