No unequal treaties? In the past 10 days, American semiconductors have been unable to contain them
In August, the $52.7 billion ChipandScienceAct was passed, including a $39 billion subsidy program to support local semiconductor manufacturing.
However, since the passage of the bill, the US authorities have not officially announced the specific content of the subsidy and the launch period. In addition, the wafer subsidy bill in the United States has also been criticized by some people, for example, because the strict conditions are difficult for TSMC and other manufacturers to accept. In addition, the American chip giant is also dissatisfied with the delay in issuing subsidies, and even threatens to continue like this, and the American chip factory will not need to be built.
Taiwan** defines the chip subsidy bill as an unequal treaty. However, this is meaningless, because with the attitude of the United States, even if it is an unequal treaty, they want to get chip subsidies, but they have to sign it, otherwise it will be difficult to make a move in the hands of American semiconductors, and if they are not careful, they may face pressure from the United States. For this reason, it doesn't matter how much dissatisfaction there is with companies that have set up factories in the United States, it is just a strong downward pressure.
Fortunately, there is finally new news about the chip subsidy in the United States. According to the news released by the top management of the United States on the 28th of last month, they will implement the detailed rules for the US chip subsidy as soon as possible in the near future. Unfortunately, 10 days have passed, and there has been no news about this matter, and American semiconductor companies are now only worried about how Chinese companies will continue to press forward step by step under the means of technological hegemony. But in the past 10 days, the U.S. semiconductor industry has not been able to stop.
The reason why the United States actively formulates the Wafer Act subsidy is to a large extent to support the development of the local semiconductor industry chain to consolidate the technological hegemony of the United States. And what they want to do after they have mastered this position, I believe that the situation of mainland semiconductors is now controlled by others is very clear to everyone - that is, through technological advantages, the development of the rest of the semiconductors will not have a future.
In this context, the former United States also expanded the scope of high-end chip shipment restrictions, investment review orders and other means as assistance, which shows that the former United States has made up its mind on this matter.
However, during the delay in the issuance of chip subsidies in the United States, the attitude of American companies towards mainland semiconductors has changed significantly.
Among them, Micron executives personally expressed their intention to increase investment in the mainland market even under the ban. Qualcomm's management in China also made it clear that it is full of confidence in the long-term development of the semiconductor industry in mainland China. Even Boeing, for the time being, is not hopeful about the mainland market, and they still hope to continue to supply aircraft to the mainland market. In addition, most U.S. companies are very optimistic about the investment environment in the mainland market and are optimistic about the development of the mainland in the semiconductor field. Clearly, the Chinese market is a huge attraction for U.S. companies.
At present, U.S. semiconductor companies still want to further press into the mainland through ubiquitous chip subsidies and by continuing their technological hegemony, and the reaction of U.S. companies can already be predicted. However, the current attitude of US enterprises shows that the United States could not stop it, and its so-called doctrine of protecting itself should not become a disease of the heart of American enterprises.
One day, U.S. semiconductor companies will pay the price for their current technological supremacy. What are your thoughts on this? Please comment, like and share here!
