With the theme of "China-South Korea Economic Cooperation and Development and the Future of Globalization", dozens of guests from the financial services of Korea, the Korea Institute for Foreign Economic Policy, Seoul National University, Peking University, and the Institute of Modern Finance of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China discussed issues related to the development of China-South Korea economic cooperation.

Fang Kun, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Korea, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Fang Kun said that in the context of the increasing unfavorable factors in the international geopolitical environment and the lack of momentum for the recovery of the world economy, it is very timely and necessary for experts and scholars from China and South Korea, as close partners, to gather together to discuss the economic situation and discuss development strategies. Fang Kun stressed that China and the ROK are inseparable close neighbors and important cooperative partners. In the face of the new situation, China and the ROK should keep pace with the times, eliminate interference, strive to cultivate new growth points for economic and trade cooperation, and further expand the cake of common interests.

Kim So-young, vice chairman of the Financial Commission of the Republic of Korea, said that in the 31 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, South Korea and China have achieved economic development through effective division of labor and cooperation. In the future, the areas of economic cooperation between Korea and China will be more diversified, including cooperation in the field of global value chains, financial cooperation in capital markets and financial services, and policy cooperation in sharing policy experience.

Lee Hee-sub, secretary general of the China-Japan-ROK Cooperation Secretariat, said that the ROK, China, and Japan are economic communities that pursue common prosperity, and the three countries develop together through mutual competition and cooperation. In the future, it is necessary for the three countries to explore cooperation on issues such as technical standards, digital trade norms, and cybersecurity, and at the same time strengthen information sharing in areas such as clean energy, climate change, silver industry, digital industry, and medical industry.

During the forum, representatives from the academic, policy and business circles of China and the ROK gathered together to introduce the new trends of economic development and new opportunities for bilateral economic and trade cooperation, and summarized and discussed the experience and issues of cooperation. Academic experts delivered wonderful keynote speeches, shared their latest research results, and offered suggestions on how to promote the regional integration market, deepen the regional industrial division of labor and cooperation, and strengthen digital cooperation and green cooperation under the guidance of scientific and technological innovation.
