Every day I commute to work on Lou Lian Avenue, the road is wide and straight, and I drive by car, and people are very relaxed and comfortable. The greenery on both sides of the avenue is very good, and I watched the scenery while driving, without any fatigue, and I quickly arrived at my destination in pleasure. There is a tree on the side of the road, and not only are there many along the way, but its flowers and leaves are pleasant to the eye. The tree is several meters tall and blooms in summer, autumn and early winter, with dense and green foliage, mainly red, yellow and white, and the flowers are large and brightly colored, which is very eye-catching.
There are many such trees on both sides of Lou Lian Avenue dozens of kilometers long, which are pleasing to the eye with branches and leaves in spring and winter, and pleasing to the eye with flowers in summer and autumn. It's a very nice landscape plant, and I love it but I can't name it. I don't know its name, but I know its tree. I have known this tree for more than half a century, which means that I have seen it in my hometown since I was a child, on the mountainside, by the river, by the roadside, especially by the railway. I've loved this tree since I was a child.
My hometown is on the side of the Hunan-Guizhou Railway, and there is a large field in front of the house, and the gentle Lianshui River meanders through the field. When I was a child, I used to play by the railroad or the river or herd cattle, and I loved the tall, leafy, unfamous trees. Later, I went to Changsha to study, and then I joined the work, and ran all over the three Hunan and four rivers, and I can see this kind of tree all over Hunan, which shows that this kind of tree is very suitable for the water and soil of Xiaoxiang.
If it hadn't been for a coincidence, I still don't know its name. Not long ago, I wrote an essay "The Magical Furong Country", this article is my praise of Hunan, the article quoted the Tang Dynasty poet Tan Yongzhi's poem - "Autumn wind thousands of miles of Furong country, twilight rain thousands of families Xue Li Village" and *** poem "Furong country is full of sunrise", I carefully checked from the top, only to know that the hibiscus in the country of Furong is the tree and its flowers that I often see on the roadside and riverside.
I have always been misled by an ancient poem that the reason why Hunan is called the country of Furong is because of the lotus flowers everywhere. "Clear water out of hibiscus, natural carving", the hibiscus in the poem of Li Bai, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, is undoubtedly a lotus. Later, I learned that there are two very famous hibiscus in Hunan: one is the lotus, also known as the water hibiscus;The other is the kind of tree and flower mentioned earlier, called wood hibiscus.
Zhou Dunyi in the Song Dynasty was particularly fond of lotus flowers, while Song Qi in the Song Dynasty was very fond of wood hibiscus. Song Qi's poem "Wood Hibiscus": "Hibiscus is a tree, and the flowers and leaves are suitable. Be careful not to lose the lotus seeds, and make clear the papers. "Wood hibiscus is a kind of tree, evergreen in all seasons, but it also blooms, has a long flowering period, and the flowers are beautiful, so Song Qi thinks that lotus flowers are not as good as wood hibiscus.
The flowers of the hibiscus are mainly red and white, the red ones are like fire, and the white ones are like snow. The Tang Dynasty poet Liu Jian's poem "Wood Hibiscus" has the sentence "This flower is rotten and burns autumn", which is written about red flowers. However, the white hibiscus flowers are also very beautiful, "three or two hibiscus and water from the water, to people can be white and red." Haoran is not under the peony, how to monopolize the late autumn wind. "The poem "Wood Hibiscus" by Zhao Fan of the Song Dynasty describes white wood hibiscus, or white and red.
The Tang Dynasty poet Bai Juyi also wrote a poem "Mu Hibiscus", two of which are: "Who is similar to the autumn fog in the evening, such as a jade beauty with wine." In the eyes of the Xiangshan monks, the wood hibiscus flowers are very beautiful, especially the red flowers are like the red clouds on the face of a beautiful woman who has drunk wine, which is particularly charming.
Wang Anshi of the Song Dynasty loved wood hibiscus and also compared safflower to a beauty. "Just like a beauty who is drunk for the first time, she forcibly lifts the green mirror to make up", this is his sentence describing Mu Hibiscus, it is obvious that the beauty who has drunk and seems to be drunk is indeed the most charming.
I love the hibiscus and admire its trees and flowers every day, the flowers are red and gorgeous, but I have never imagined them as beautiful women who have drunk wine. When it comes to poetry, I prefer the poem in Han Yu's "Wood Hibiscus" in the Tang Dynasty: "I am willing to be diligent in watching, and I will chase the wind without an order."
Whether I like it or not, the hibiscus on the side of the road catches my eye every day, and I am glad that I love them for more than 50 years, and I don't know their names before, but now I know them.
