Tottenham Hotspur lost 2-4 away to Brighton & Hove Albion, shattering the dream of a fourth consecutive win in the Premier League
Like Manchester United, Tottenham endured an unbeatable game as they lost 4-2 to Brighton & Hove Albion, costing them four wins in the first half of the league.
The tournament took place at the American Express Club this morning and was a major event in the league final in the first half of the season. Tottenham suffered a collapse earlier last month as they have lost three games in a row, picking up just one point from five games, dropping top spot and dropping out of the last four. However, Tottenham have been excellent in recent games, with three wins now under their belt, including defeats to Newcastle and Everton, and have moved back to fourth place. Against a Brighton side who have been underperforming lately, Tottenham will be hoping to continue their continuity of play as they look for a four-game winning streak in the league.
Brighton began their quick counter-attack and on 11 minutes Pedro sent the ball to Wood to make it 1-0. In the 19th minute, Gross took a corner kick and Van Herck's header gave his side a 2-0 lead. In the 32nd minute, James Milner and Estupiñan both missed a great chance as Tottenham escaped. Halfway through the game, Richard Charlison hit the post with a kick that gave Tottenham a 2-0 lead in the second half.
As the game entered the second half, Tottenham increased their attack, but it was difficult to break through the opponent's defence. Brighton won 3-0 with a goal from Estupiñán in the 62nd minute. Ten minutes later, Pedro added another goal to give Brighton a 4-0 lead. Tottenham levelled at half-time thanks to goals from Willis and Davies, but they lost 4-2 at home to Brighton to end their four-game win.
