On December 9, the 7th "China Tonghua" Mountain Wine Producing Area Summit and the 2023 Yalu River Valley Ice Wine Festival was held in Yajiang Valley, Ji'an City. Ice grape picking experience, observation of sorting and pressing, on-site ice wine tasting and other activities, let people taste the Chinese terroir and explore the red national wine in the ice and snow.

Walking into the Yajiang Valley grape picking base, clusters of crystal clear ice grapes hang on the vines, like "ice and snow elves" jumping on the banks of the Yalu River.

After precipitation from autumn to winter, the naturally dehydrated ice grapes combine the sweetness of grapes with the crispness of ice and snow, and the ice wine produced has a rich and pleasant compound aroma of honey and almonds, and the fruity and wine aroma is prominent, which is the best among wine treasures.

Friends, this is the ice grape of my hometown, which can be juiced and made wine, with a high quality origin and a unique taste. At the scene of the picking event, Li Feng, a citizen of Ji'an, excitedly picked up his mobile phone to broadcast live, "Taking advantage of the opening of the Ice Wine Festival, I must recommend Tonghua Ice Wine to netizens across the country." ”

It is understood that Tonghua ice wine is made from local mountain grapes, and the most prominent performance is the "North Ice Red" grape, which is domesticated and cultivated by the Institute of Special Products of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and is currently the only grape variety in the world that can be directly pressed and produced into a deep ruby red ice wine.

Sun Yanfeng of the Yalu River Valley Mountain Wine R&D Center in Ji'an said: "According to international standards, the harvest of ice grapes should be postponed after ripening, and when the temperature drops below minus 8 degrees Celsius, they should be harvested and pressed while they are freezing. There are very few ice wine regions in the world, and most of them are white in color, and only 'Arctic Red' grapes can make ice red wines. ”

The Yalu River valley in Ji'an has natural conditions such as climate and soil suitable for the growth of mountain grapes. In winter, there is a lot of snowfall and weak wind speeds, so mountain grapes can survive the winter without burying the soil to protect against the cold. Confucius Xuan, general manager of Yajianggu Winery in Ji'an City, said that this event has done a good job of publicity for the production area, and the company must insist on planting good grapes and making good wine, so that "Arctic Red" will represent China to the world.

As the "Wine City of China", Tonghua Wine Region has gone through a history of 86 years and is the only wine producing area in China that uses local mountain grapes to make wine. Tonghua wine has the reputation of "red national wine" and "national day wine".

Tonghua City has always attached great importance to the development of the wine industry, and has established the development orientation of efficient agriculture, green industry, characteristic tourism and cultural industryEleven years ago, the concept of Yalu River Valley production area was proposed, from the breeding of local mountain grape varieties to the research and development of China's top ice wine, from traditional planting to the construction of standardized bases, from industrial production to the creation of boutique wineries, and constantly promote industrial transformation and upgrading.

From 2012, when Tonghua production area proposed to build the Yalu River Valley's first grape belt, to 2016, when the first Yalu River Valley Ice Wine Festival opened, this year is the 7th Ice Wine Festival held in Tonghua City. After more than ten years of construction and development, the Tonghua ice wine produced by the Yalu River Valley has won many awards in international and domestic professional competitions, and has become the representative of China's high-end ice wine and the top ice wine production area in China.
