In the previous issue, let's continue to talk about the founding history of the main vassal states of the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period.
The history of the founding of the Yan Kingdom that has been annihilated for 3,000 years
Everyone may not have heard much about the history of Yan State, but the more famous one is the story of Dan, the prince of Yan State, who sent Jing Ke to assassinate Qin Shi Huang. There is also the story of the middle and late Warring States period, when King Yan gave the throne to the prime minister of the country, which led to civil strife, King Yan Zhaozhu ** Taiwan recruited talents, and Yan General Le Yi was killed.
It is reasonable that people rarely know the history of the Yan Kingdom. Because Yan is located in the far north, far away from the Central Plains, there are very few wars and exchanges with the Central Plains countries. Although it was called "one of the seven heroes" in the Warring States period, it was actually a second-rate country of "one of the seven heroes".
Yan State, the founding monarch is "Ke", also known as "Yan Hou Ke", he is the eldest son of Zhao Gongxi.
So, why wasn't the founding monarch of the Yan Kingdom a summoning prince? How was the Kingdom of Yan built?Let's talk about it.
In the early years of King Cheng, after Zhou Gongdan defeated the rebellious "Three Eunuchs" and Lu's father, Lu's father fled north. In order to get rid of Father Lu, a person who had great appeal to the Yin people, King Cheng ordered Gong Zheng to lead the army to hunt down Father Lu.
Zhao Gongxiao pursued all the way to the north, and by the way, conquered many anti-Zhou princes in the north, Fang Guo, and fought all the way to today's northern Hebei and Beijing. It is possible that Father Lu was killed in this vicinity.
During the Shang and Zhou dynasties, the Qiangzong clans generally had their own "clan army". When Zhao Gongxiao went on a northern expedition, in addition to leading the imperial army, he naturally also brought the "clan army" of the Zhao clan.
After the victory of Zhao Gongzao's Northern Expedition, King Cheng rewarded Zhao Gongzao's military exploits, and because the Zhao Gong family had marched north to present-day Hebei and Beijing, and was familiar with the local people and geography, he divided the eldest son of Zhao Gong "Ke", and was the first generation of monarchs for the Yan State in the northeast of the Zhou Dynasty.
When the Zhou Dynasty won the Eastern Crusade, the Zhou Dynasty had not yet gained a firm foothold in the world, and the king and the court were inseparable from Zhao Gongzao, so the first generation of the monarch of the Yan State was served by the eldest son of Zhao Gong "Ke".
The origin of the surname Chu
The Wei, Lu, Qi, Yan, Jin and other countries we talked about earlier are all important countries in the early Zhou Dynasty that "granted land and granted the people" to be feuded, among them, Wei, Lu, Yan, and Jin were all countries with the surname Ji, although the country of Qi is not surnamed Ji - surnamed Jiang, but the founding monarch of Qi Lu Shang is the father-in-law of King Wu and the grandfather of King Cheng.
The above-mentioned countries were all very close to the royal family at the beginning of the Zhou Dynasty, while the Chu State surnamed Mi was much more distant from the Zhou people. Therefore, he was not built in the form of the Zhou Dynasty "granting land to the people".
The state of Chu was a small local tribe, and the Zhou dynasty was a recognition of the name of the state of Chu. The strength of the state of Chu in the early years of the Western Zhou Dynasty was very weak, and it was far from the strength of those countries with the surname Ji and their relatives.
But in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, the strength of the Chu State increased greatly. During the Spring and Autumn Period, it can be said that it was the history of hegemony of "Northern Jin and Southern Chu", and during the Warring States Period, the territory of Chu also accounted for almost half of the territory of China at that time.

At the end of the Shang Dynasty, to avoid war, the bears migrated south from the Central Plains to Chu and settled. During the reign of King Cheng, the Zhou Dynasty "divided" Xiong Yi as the monarch of Chu.
But this "sub-fiefdom" is actually just a false name, which is equivalent to the issuance of a "power of attorney", without actually granting land and people.
