Novices raise flowers to death, 90% of them are caused by watering, if you want to raise flowers well, you still have to study and study watering.
It doesn't know how to water, it is often raised to death, and it is bought when it is dead, and so on, and it is also named the title of "flower killer". Today we will talk about the topic of "raising flowers and watering".
First, the potting soil is dry and then watered
For so many years of raising flowers, I have always followed the principle of "dry and watered". It is important to emphasize here that you should not wait for the potting soil to dry all before watering, but wait for the bottom of the pot topsoil to dry to a third before watering.
For some particularly drought-tolerant flowers, such as tiger pill orchid, longevity flower, fortune tree, desert rose, tiger thorn plum, succulent, etc., you can wait for the potting soil to dry slightly, and then it is not too late to water.
Why?
Because the roots need to breathe oxygen, if they are watered frequently, the soil has low oxygen content, and the roots are always in the wet soil, which is easy to rot and breed bacteria.
After the potting soil is dry, the oxygen content in the soil is higher, the root system is also hungry and thirsty, and needs to find water, the plant's instinct will promote the growth of a stronger root system, absorb water and nutrients, and the root system is good, and the plant will naturally be raised.
2. How to judge the timing of watering
But how can you tell if it's time to water? We can prepare a chopstick, insert the potting soil 1 3 depth, after 15 minutes, if the soil on the chopsticks is dry, it means that the potting soil is dry, at this time you can water.
Or we can also use our hands to pick up the flower pot, feel that the flower pot is obviously lighter, you can water, of course, this method needs us to operate a few more times, naturally there is a bar scale in our hearts.
3. Watering should be thorough
When watering flowers and plants, you must water them thoroughly at other times except during the dormant period. The so-called watering is to let the whole potting soil absorb enough water to supply the root system.
How can you tell if the potting soil has been watered through? Some people say that even if you see water flowing out of the bottom of the pot, you can pour it thoroughly, but this statement is not entirely true.
Some potting soil is relatively compact, and there are gaps between the inner wall of the pot after drying, and the water will secretly flow away from the gaps after watering. It seems to be watered thoroughly, but the middle of the potting soil is still dry.
There are also potting soils that are more permeable, only watering on one side, and there will be water flowing out of the permeable holes quickly, in fact, the potting soil is not completely watered.
Therefore, when we water the flowers, we should water them around the plant with a small amount of water, and water them several times to make sure that they are watered thoroughly, and then pour out the excess water in the tray to avoid water reabsorption.
Some flower friends take the method of soaking pots, fill a larger pot with water, the water depth is flat to the surface of the pot soil, and then put the pot in, about half an hour or so, take out the pot, look at the tray after a while, if there is water, also pour it out. But this method is water-consuming and time-consuming. The number of pots is small, and occasionally you can do this.
Fourth, several time points that cannot be watered
When do you usually water the flowers? Many flower friends have time to think of watering, in fact, watering should also pay attention to the time, the time is right, the probability of rotten roots will be greatly reduced.
Don't water flowers on rainy days: In rainy weather, the moisture content in the air is relatively large, and flowers and plants can absorb water from the air, and flowers and plants are not short of water at this time. After watering, the water in the potting soil evaporates slowly, and if it does not dry for a long time on continuous rainy days, there will be a risk of rotten roots, so do not water flowers on rainy days.
Don't water flowers at noon in summer: At noon in summer, many flowers and plants are hot and wilting, and some flower friends especially want to water them with a pot of cold water to cool down, which is very wrong. Because the potting soil absorbs a lot of heat and the temperature is particularly high, watering at this time, there is a huge temperature difference between the water and the potting soil, which will stimulate the root system and be detrimental to its health. What's even more terrifying is that the temperature of the potting soil rises for a while, which is tantamount to sauna for the roots, and will also increase the chance of root rot.
Watering flowers and plants in summer, the best time period is after 10 o'clock in the evening, at this time the temperature of the potting soil has cooled down, after watering after a night of absorption and evaporation, and so on the next day, there is no water in the potting soil, and the temperature rises again at noon, and there will be no stuffy roots.
Winter to water at noon on a sunny day, this is easy to understand, when we were children, winter bathing, are washed in the sun at noon, plants and people are the same reason, winter is afraid of cold, summer is afraid of heat.
In fact, raising flowers is really about working on the details, seemingly simple watering, but there are so many places to pay attention to, if you are missing in every detail, then you are destined to not be able to raise flowers.
