What kind of character is Pan An?

Pan An, formerly known as Pan Yue and whose name is Anren, was a famous writer and politician in the Western Jin Dynasty. He was born in present-day Zhongmu County, Henan, his grandfather Pan Jin was Anping Taishou, and his father Pan Yu was Langya Neishi. Pan Yue has been well educated in literature since he was a child, and he is known as a "prodigy" by the villagers. In literature, he and Lu Ji are called "Panjiang Luhai".

Pan An has served as the commander of Heyang County, the commander of Huai County, the secretary of Shangshu Duzhilang, and the evaluation of Tingwei, and his political achievements are remarkable. During his tenure as the magistrate of Heyang County, he advocated that the people plant more fruit trees, and the county was full of trees and plums, and was known as "Flower County". Later, he returned to Luoyang and successively served as a writer and a waiter at the Yellow Gate. During this period, he often participated in the tours of the "Twenty-four Friends of the Golden Valley", a literati group attached to Jia Mi, and was one of the leading figures.

Pan An is famous for his image of a talented and beautiful woman, he is plump and beautiful, and his appearance is outstanding, and he is known as the first of the four beautiful men in ancient times. He lived in Luoyang City when he was a teenager, and whenever he traveled by car, there were always some women who walked around the car hand in hand, throwing flowers and fruits to show their affection.

However, Pan'an's life was full of twists and turns. He once incurred jealousy for his work "Borrowing the Field", and he stayed in office for ten years. During the Rebellion of the Eight Kings, he was framed by Sun Xiu, the commander of the Zhongshu Order, and was eventually killed.

Pan An's poetry works exist today, of which "Three Mourning Poems" is his representative work. His achievements in the history of literature are praised by posterity, and he is known as "Sanpan" along with his uncle Pan Miao and nephew Pan Ni.
