In this issue, we will introduce you to two very niche and very local attractions on the Yunnan-Burma Highway - Yunnan Yihe and Xiangyun White Horse Temple.
Yunnan Yi is known as the source of Yunnan and is located in the east of Xiangyun County, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. Legend has it that in 122 B.C., there is a color Yunnan now, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty ordered people to trace here, think that there is an auspicious omen, then set up Yunnan County, later generations here became an important post station of the ancient tea horse road, Kublai Khan destroyed the Dali country at the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty, set up Yunnan Province for the first time, and moved the political center from Dali to Kunming. During the Anti-Japanese War, an airport was built here, and the Yunnan-Burma Highway passed through here, which became an important transit station for personnel and materials. The two surviving couplets vividly depict the scene at that time:
One of them: running everywhere in the sky and on the ground are all arms, and only smelling the fragrance of tea before and after the saddle and horses from south to north;
Second: Di Bao Fei spread the public** to stay in the twilight, and the second child of the caravan bell bell store ushered in.
The existing archway of Yunnan post does not know when it was built, the ancient road is paved with limestone, and the houses on both sides are mostly two-storey, typical Yunnan folk house style. Looking from afar, under the blue sky and white clouds, the antique houses on both sides of the straight ancient road are neat and tidy, and the ancient meaning is deep, and everyone who approaches here will inevitably have a sense of nostalgia for the ancients.
After visiting Yunnan Station, I was about to go to the county seat on the side of the road, and I saw a sign of "White Horse Temple", I was surprised, and I thought that Luoyang White Horse Temple, the first royal temple of Chinese Buddhism, would never build a branch temple here!Resolutely go to a ** after all. Follow the sign along a mountain peak spiral, sure enough, a temple stands on the top of the mountain, next to the mountain gate stands a stone tablet, I leaned over to see, the dense text on it has been mottled, carefully identified and learned, it turns out that this White Horse Temple is dedicated to Li Dingguo.
Li Dingguo is a native of Yulin, Shaanxi, the leader of the peasant rebel army at the end of the Ming Dynasty, Zhang Xianzhong's righteous son, after Zhang Xianzhong's death, he led the Great Western Army, Li Dingguo accompanied Sun Kewang to lead his soldiers to Shun Nanming regime to resist the Qing army, and made outstanding achievements. Later, Sun Kewang took the Southern Ming Emperor Zhu Youlang hostage to Anlong, Guizhou, with the intention of abolishing self-reliance, Li Dingguo led his troops to welcome Zhu Youlang to Kunming, after Sun Kewang rebelled against the Qing Dynasty, Li Dingguo became the pillar of the Southern Ming regime to resist the Qing army. When the Qing army invaded Yunnan, Li Dingguo always insisted on the anti-Qing struggle, and later died of illness on the Sino-Burmese border in Yunnan.
Li Dingguo was the most important figure in the struggle against the Qing Dynasty in the southwest, Hunan, and Guangxi, and made important contributions to the struggle against the Qing Dynasty in the Southern Ming regime. Historian Gu Cheng has a very high opinion of him. After Gu Cheng conducted a profound and comprehensive research and study of the history of the Southern Ming Dynasty, he said in the book "History of the Southern Ming Dynasty": "Li Dingguo's life should be fully affirmed ,...In fact, Li Dingguo was a hero who resisted feudal oppression at the end of the Ming Dynasty;At the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, he was an outstanding commander in the struggle against the military conquest and tyrannical rule of the Manchu aristocracy. If you don't judge heroes by success or failure, among the characters in all aspects during the Ming and Qing dynasties, he is a brilliant superstar, and no one else can match it. ”
Legend has it that Li Dingguo fought with the pursuing Qing army in Xiangyun when he escorted Zhu Youlang to the west. Because of Li Dingguo's anti-Qing deeds, the local people built the White Horse Temple to worship and commemorate Li Dingguo.
