On October 19, 1936, Lu Xun, a generation of writers, unfortunately died of illness in Shanghai at the age of 55.
After the news came out, the literary world was shocked, the whole country was saddened, and all parties sent messages of condolence and elegiac couplets to bid farewell to this fighter who had taken the revitalization of China as his own responsibility in his life.
Regarding the cause of Lu Xun's death, most of the academic circles tend to be pulmonary tuberculosis, emphysema, and pleurisy, in short, they are inseparable from respiratory diseases.
At that time, the domestic medical conditions were very backward, these three diseases were very terrible, and they could be called incurable, but the medical conditions abroad were very developed, such as the Soviet Union, Germany, and Japan, and Lu Xun also had the opportunity to go, why did he not succeed in the end?
As early as November 6, 1935, at a reception held by the Soviet Consulate in Shanghai, the Soviet Union sent an invitation to Lu Xun and invited him to the Soviet Union for treatment.
At that time, Song Qingling was also present, and she later recalled that at that time, the representative of the Soviet Union proposed that the climatic environment and recuperation conditions of the Crimean Peninsula in the south of the Soviet Union would be of great benefit to Lu Xun's health, so she sincerely invited Lu Xun to go to the Soviet Union to recuperate, but Lu Xun did not agree and politely declined.
Later, Lu Xun explained that if he went to the Soviet Union, he would not be able to see domestic news and would not be able to write articles.
In fact, this is just an excuse on the surface, of course Lu Xun knows that if he goes to the Soviet Union to be cured, he can live for many more years, and he can write more articles, and there is really no need to lose a big one because of a small one.
In fact, there was a more important reason for Lu Xun's refusal to go to the Soviet Union, that is, some people at that time made rumors that Lu Xun was instructed by the Soviets to write those articles and received money from the Soviets.
Lu Xun has always been very disgusted with these things, so in order to avoid suspicion, he refused to go to the Soviet Union, so as not to be used.
In March 1936, Lu Xun's illness suddenly worsened, and he had severe asthma, high fever, and no appetite.
After a comprehensive examination, Dr. Deng Wei gave an opinion that Mr. Lu Xun's illness could not be cured in China, and that he would go to Germany for treatment, and if he recovered well, he would live for another 20 years.
Song Qingling was also very happy, so he wrote to Lu Xun and said: "I beg you to be admitted to the hospital immediately!"Because if you delay it by one day, it means that your life is more dangerous by one day!Your life is not your own, but belongs to China and the revolution! For the sake of China and the future of the revolution, you have the need to preserve and cherish your body, because China needs you, and the revolution needs you!”
However, Sudo, a Japanese doctor who had treated Lu Xun for many years, advised him not to go to Germany, as for the specific reason, no one knows, it has become a public case, anyway, Lu Xun listened to him and did not go to Germany.
Seeing that Lu Xun's illness was getting worse and worse, Dr. Sudo suggested to Lu Xun that he could go to Japan, although Japan's medical conditions were not as good as those of the Soviet Union and Germany, but it was not bad, and Lu Xun had a lot of roots with Japan.
However, just when Lu Xun was about to leave, Chiang Kai-shek sent someone and sent him a lot of money as the cost of Lu Xun's treatment in Japan.
Chiang Kai-shek's move is obviously "the weasel greetings the chicken for the New Year, not having a good heart", because Chiang Kai-shek has not won over Lu Xun over the years, but Lu Xun has turned him away, and now he has sent Lu Xun money for treatment, obviously to continue to win him over.
Chiang Kai-shek was even more ruthless that he sent money to Lu Xun this time, and also let the newspapers hype it up, so that even if Lu Xun confiscated his money, as long as he went to Japan, he would no longer be able to tell!
Therefore, Lu Xun, who has always been hard-headed, dispelled the idea of going to Japan for treatment, and finally died of illness in Shanghai at the age of 55.
It can be seen from these few things that Lu Xun values his reputation more than his life, even if he doesn't go abroad for treatment, he can't let those villains succeed!
