Question of this issue.
Dear Zhongliujun, I always thought that the teeth were either afraid of decay or falling out directly, but when I went to the hospital, I saw that someone's tooth was broken from it, and the doctor said that it was a dental trauma. It turns out that there are also traumatic injuries to the teeth? What should I do if I get hurt?
Recently, the Department of Stomatology of our hospital has received 2 cases of adolescents with dental trauma in a row, and their teeth have been successfully saved after timely diagnosis and treatment.
In the first case, after treating the tooth surface with adhesive, the pulp capping + crown breaking and regrafting were taken;
In the second case, due to the exposed medulla of the section, the live myeloid cutting + crown reconnection surgery was adopted.
After the doctor's treatment, the two teenagers saved their front teeth and regained their tooth shape. However, these two traumatized teeth still need to be cared for, the front teeth should be avoided from biting hard objects, and regular follow-up visits are required.
So, what are the types of dental trauma?
Dental trauma can generally be divided into tooth**, tooth fracture, and tooth dislocation.
Tooth ** (periodontal ligament ** injury): caused by mild external force, it can be manifested as gingival congestion, swelling, no displacement, slight loosening and percussion pain, and may have transient sensitivity symptoms.
Tooth fracture: refers to the fracture and defect of the tooth to different degrees and positions, which can be divided into crown fracture, root fracture, and crown-root joint fracture.
Tooth dislocation: the tooth deviates or detaches from the socket due to external force, and there are often pain, loosening and displacement, occlusal disorders and other manifestations.
Dental trauma can occur at any age, but is predominantly in children and adolescents.
Well, in everyday life.
How can dental trauma be avoided?
1.For outdoor activities, especially high-intensity exercise, you should wear sportswear with non-slip and well-fitting sneakers to avoid dental injuries caused by falls. To participate in high-risk sports such as skateboarding or roller skating, high-intensity sports such as basketball or football, it is best to wear protective gear, and those who have conditions are best to wear sports mouthguards, etc., to minimize the risk of dental trauma.
2.During live competitions, such as high-risk games such as basketball, soccer or baseball, you should keep a safe distance from the field of play to protect yourself from being injured by the ball. If you can't dodge in time, you should hold your head with both arms to avoid being hit directly by the ball in your face and causing injuries to your teeth and other important parts.
3.In daily life, you should avoid chasing and fighting, especially in dangerous or narrow places such as stairs and corridors, and you should avoid pushing and shoving; The sharp edges and corners of home furniture should be pasted with anti-collision strips to prevent collisions; When playing games with each other, children should avoid throwing dangerous objects such as gravel at each other; When taking the ** tool daily, you should pay attention to fastening your seat belt; Wear a helmet properly when riding a bicycle or e-bike to minimize the risk of trauma.
4.If there is a condition of irregular dentition, protruding front teeth, etc., you should go to the hospital for examination to see if you need orthodontic treatment, adduct the protruding front teeth, and reduce the risk of dental trauma.
Finally, in the event of dental trauma, how should I deal with it correctly?
1.Once dental trauma occurs, even if there is no obvious pain, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible, and a dentist should complete the examination to determine the specific situation of the injured tooth and take corresponding treatment measures.
2.If the tooth is broken due to trauma, do not discard it, wash it with running water and soak it in normal saline or water. Seek medical attention as soon as possible, and after examination by the doctor, according to the condition of the dental trauma, pulp capping, myelotomy and cervical pulpotomy will be taken.
3.If the newly erupted young permanent teeth are completely protruded. It is recommended to follow these steps:
Find the missing tooth, pinch the crown of the tooth with your hand (without touching the root of the tooth) and wash it with running water, do not use a brush to brush the root surface of the tooth;
Soak the clean wounded tooth in normal saline, fresh milk (not yogurt) or in the mouth, and do not wrap it in a tissue, handkerchief or cotton to prevent periodontal ligament necrosis after the tooth dries;
Seek medical attention as soon as possible, and the sooner the replantation, reduction, and fixation, the better the prognosis for traumatic tooth prolapse.
All in all, no matter what kind of dental trauma you have, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible to assess the condition of the affected tooth so that you can get it in time**.
During the winter vacation, parents are reminded to do a good job in the prevention of dental trauma, pay attention to protection when exercising, and avoid falling, bumping, and pushing when taking children out to play, so as to prevent dental trauma; At the same time, learn the emergency treatment measures in case of dental trauma and seize the best opportunity.
