Our class of workers, peasants and soldiers who came and went were students

I graduated from junior high school in August 1972. At that time, in response to the call of ***, the children of the household registration must "go to the mountains and go to the countryside", and the rural household registration must "return to the countryside". "Educated youths who go to the mountains and go to the countryside" and "young people who have returned to their hometowns" must participate in two years of rural labor, so that "educated youths who go to the mountains and go to the countryside" can return to the cities to work, and only "young people who have returned to the countryside" can be qualified to take the examinations of middle and higher education institutions, and only after graduation can they obtain urban household registration and arrange work to eat the "imperial grain." At that time, there was a big difference between urban and rural areas, especially in a nationally renowned industrial and mining enterprise like the one where my father worked, and the wages and benefits were much better than those of ordinary state units. So, with my dream of going back to the city and my father's workplace to be a worker, I went to the countryside where my mother lived, covered in mud during the day, refining a red heart, and at night with an oil lamp, reviewing politics, language, mathematics, physics and chemistry. He was often tired and sore during the day, with a muddy and fecal smell, and he had difficulty breathing under the oil lamp while fighting mosquitoes and being unable to breathe from the black smoke of the kerosene lamp, day after day, for two years.

In the summer of 1974, after two years of hard work, and the opportunity to enroll students came, I washed off the sweat on my body, changed into clean clothes, and trekked dozens of miles of mountain roads to the "commune" to apply for the Guizhou Institute of Technology. Half a month later, I went to the district education bureau to check the test results, and the results showed that they were good. But fate didn't favor me, it was the era of "political leadership", and I was joined by a former soldier who was a member of the Communist Party. The next step was the political examination, but when the leader of our production brigade received a notice from his superiors that I was going to undergo the political examination, he privately replaced it with the professional soldier who went to the political examination of the admissions office of the district education bureau. Of course, my political conditions were not as good as his, and I was an old Komsomol member at that time. There is only one place in our brigade, and it is impossible for two people to get it at the same time, so I have to accept my fate. But he didn't pass the test because of his poor test scores.

But I lost the opportunity to go to college. In a situation like mine, there must be a lot of young talents who have spent their lives in the countryside with their backs to the loess.

After that, I was like a bird with wings spread and suddenly broke its wings, and fell from a height of thousands of miles to the ground at once, miserable and sad. But in the following days, I did not give up studying and looked forward to the opportunity to come again.

In the autumn of 1975, due to my outstanding examination results and the fact that there was no stain on the political examination, I was finally admitted to Tongren Normal School. In the early autumn of September, the sky was high and crisp, and I came to Tongren Normal School to report, not to mention how happy I was. One week after entering the school, the school conducted a unified test for 300 new students, and was divided into 6 classes according to the test scores, 1, 3, and 5 were the classes with poor grades, and 2, 4, and 6 were the classes with better grades, and I was assigned to the second class. The questions on the test are simple, math is almost all learned in junior high school, and elementary school.

Five or six years of math problems. Physics is general common sense, chemistry is simple chemical reactions, language is a combination of words, explaining words, writing a narrative, politics is not tested.

Since the beginning of the trial class in October, almost all of our teachers have graduated from key universities, and there are many experienced veteran teachers, who can stimulate the interest of each student in learning. At first, the learning atmosphere in our class was very strong, and it can be said that it was meticulous.

One morning in mid-November. The school radio shouted that after all the students of the 77th class heard the broadcast, they went to the school auditorium at 9 o'clock to listen to the transmission of the CCP's ** document, which probably reads: The 77th class should take the "Communist University of Agriculture as an example and implement the 'society to come and go', that is, 'three to three to three go'." Those who come from the countryside go back to the countryside, those who come from the factories go back to the factories, and those who come from the troops return to the troops.

It was a gloomy day, with dark clouds hanging over the campus. After listening to the spirit of the document, I thought to myself, since I don't have to be allotted, I might as well go home early. I asked Lin Hengsen's class teacher to ask for a withdrawal from school, because "the society comes and goes" and the assignment is not included after graduation. Of the nearly 300 new students, I was the only one who asked to withdraw from the course. The head teacher said, "If you come, you will be safe." If you really want to drop out of school, I will send a letter to your district education bureau, and in the future, whether it is a university or a technical secondary school, you will not be able to have a chance, and then you will be convicted of being a counter-revolutionary against the party and sentenced to several years in prison. "I shuddered, as if I had been bitten by a snake, and my heart ached.

In late December of the same year, the school set up a factory (bone fertilizer factory, collecting the bones of cattle, horses, pigs and other animals to process and beat into powder), our seventh and fifth level (2) class first, suspended the class to produce bone fertilizer, first steamed and then baked, and then used a pulverizer to beat into powder, according to each bag of 100 catties for packaging, the price is 5 yuan 1 bag, 8 hours a day work system, a shift must produce 1 ton per day according to the regulations. Put the steamed bones into the grinder, close the switch, and the grinder roars like a lion. The factory is full of dust. The protective masks I wore didn't work at all, and I had to vomit phlegm for three or four days after a shift, and the sputum had white ashes in it. This is the achievement and spirit of the students of the whole school to learn from the "Gongda Chao Agricultural College".

In September 1976, Tongren Normal School built a simple school building and canteen in Maoping, Sanzhai Commune. Our 48 students in the 75th (2) class picked up tiles for two days, from the community headquarters of Sanzhai Commune to the Tongshi Agricultural Base, there are more than ten miles of Huali, pick a load of tiles to climb up, gnaw a red lotus when hungry, and drink cold water when thirsty. In order to complete the task of picking tiles, the girl's shoulders were swollen, and she wrapped her shoulder in a towel and endured the pain until the end. After the tiles for the school building were enough, the next step was to dig the sand, sift the sand, pick the sand, pick the bricks to repair the toilets and the cattle pen and pigsty. We cut firewood and dig up trees in the canteen of the Normal School of Agriculture, and we used it for cooking and boiling water in the canteen. There were two students in our class who did a particularly good job of digging trees and chopping wood, and they did the most work, and they were called pimple masters by the class.

After the infrastructure was completed, the next step was to reclaim the wasteland, dig the soil, cut the thorns and weeds all over the mountain with a sickle, pile up several large piles, light them with hay, the sky was full of smoke, and the radio shouted "The digging competition of each class starts now!" "When the students of each class heard the password, they wielded their hoes and smoked desperately to dig, and whichever class dug in front, the mobile red flag was planted in which class. On the radio, "The Song of the Workers, Peasants and Soldiers" said, "The pine trees all over the mountain are green and green, the green bamboo roots are all over the mountain, the new type of university is running well, and she is heart-to-heart with the workers and peasants." The glorious road is guiding the 'Communist University' to cultivate a new generation of people, learn the skills to take over the class, and contribute their youth to communism." The song was repeated on the radio, and under the encouragement of this song, the students dug more and more energetically, and the girls had blood blisters on their hands and wrapped them in handkerchiefs, and they endured the pain and insisted on digging. Smoke and dust were flying all over the barren mountains. At the end of the day, everyone was tired and had a sore back. The girls caressed their hands and kept calling, and went to the school doctor to take medicine one by one.

After a period of time, the school made adjustments, and classes 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 returned to school to implement part-time work and study. In the second class, we continued to practice half-farming and half-study in the branch school, and in the morning we cut grass in the wheat field or beat adobe (digging new clods of soil and turning them over and smashing them with a hoe). At that time, the prescribed amount of food for each boy in a month included 30 catties of miscellaneous grains, and 28 catties for girls, all of whom were young people in their early 20s, with strong digestion and labor, and 30 catties of grain was not enough to eat. The head teacher said: "You are shouting hunger all day long, you want to eat socialism in one bite!" When those classmates heard this, they didn't dare to shout that they were hungry anymore.

Later, a leader of the school visited the branch and asked the cold and the warmth: "Are you cold, are you hungry?" 30 pounds of food per month for boys, 28 pounds of food for girls, do you have enough to eat? We replied that there was not enough food to eat. Director Li said: "There is not enough food to eat, so I decided to add 2 catties to each of you every month. Under the care of that leader, everyone increased their food by 2 catties per month, and their lives improved overall. The 48 students in the class are divided into 6 tables, a table of 8 people, each table has a large pot of rice, a large piece of potted cake, a pot of cabbage, tofu, meat, etc. There are two cooks and aunts in the canteen of the branch school, one surnamed Gao and the other surnamed Song, their cooking skills are very good, and the dishes are very fragrant.

Two months later, the students of Class 3 also went to the Xuenong branch. The cafeteria was starting to get too busy, so I, as a more obedient student, was transferred to the cafeteria with another classmate to help. Mainly responsible for doing chores in the canteen, such as carrying water, chopping wood, lighting fire, washing vegetables, etc. At that time, there was no running water in the branch, and my classmate and I each had to pick 10 loads of water (big buckets, about 100 catties of water per load) every day, and there were about 100 people, and there was not enough water for 1 ton a day. It was the end of the first month of the year, and we ended our life at the school of agriculture.

In March 1977, all the students returned to the school, which was the last semester of the school. "Down with the 'Gang of Four', there is hope for the educational revolution". This semester, the interest of all the students in learning has increased again, the study of engineering and agriculture has stopped, and the teaching is on the right track, and normal classes have resumed. Many students are secretly wondering: the "Gang of Four" has been defeated, and the distribution system of "social come and go" will also be abolished? Will our 77th National Package Allocation? With a glimmer of hope, everyone continued to study in the last semester.

In August 1977, we ended our campus life, and the school sent a graduation notice to each student, "The 77th class of 'society to come and go' does not include distribution" ......Holding her graduation certificate and graduation notice, the girl cried like a tearful person, but had to leave the school.

I haven't figured out why.

Seven. The sixth, seventh, and eighth graduating classes were all allocated, and ours was not allotted in that class. Most of us returned to our hometowns in the brigade and commune schools to become private teachers, and a very small number of those who were workers still went back to work as workers, and those who came from the army also returned to the army. I don't know if they're ** now?

Thirty-eight years have passed, and in the blink of an eye. Nowadays, many of the students have long since passed away, and the rest of them, whether they are workers or peasants, whether they are teaching or doing business, whether they are rich in money or poor, they have children and grandchildren around their knees, and no one cares about it, but they cannot forget it.
