On January 31, Oceanbase and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) signed a cooperation agreement to explore the technological innovation of database intelligence. The collaboration will be based on Oceanbase 40 Based on the research of paetica, we promote the integration of machine learning and database technology.
As a world-class research-intensive university, Nanyang Technological University is one of the world's top universities, always leading the way in academic research, education and teaching, and continuously paying attention to the technical development and application practice of core basic software databases.
Parameterized queries are widely used in database applications, but there is still significant room for optimization to reduce CPU and memory consumption, query times, and more. In the research direction of database intelligence, machine learning has been applied to the parametric query optimization of databases, but there are still certain limitations and difficulties in the face of complex queries.
In response to this industry problem, according to the agreement, Professor Cong Gao of Nanyang Technological University will carry out a collaborative research with OceanBase on "Learning to Rank for Parametric Query Optimization", based on OceanBase 40 small fish (paetica), explore the way of machine learning to break through the performance bottleneck of the database's parametric query - try to build an algorithm that can dynamically adapt to the changing database environment, use advanced machine learning technology to generate a nearly optimal cache plan set for parameterized queries, accurately identify and ** the impact of subtle parameter changes on the validity of the query plan, so as to select the optimal solution.
Since its inception in 2010, OceanBase has been firmly committed to basic research and building distributed databases for critical business workloads. Up to now, more than 10 articles have been included in top international conferences such as Sigmod, VLDB, ICDE, etc., and have been recognized by VLDB's "The Artifacts **Ailable Badge" for 2 consecutive years, constantly leading the cutting-edge development of distributed databases.
Oceanbase has also set up a special research institute "Ant Technology Research Institute Haibei Lab", and cooperated with Chinese Renmin University, East China Normal University, Wuhan University, Northeastern University and other universities to strengthen the collaboration between industry and academia in the database field, overcome technical problems and cultivate high-level talents.
After 13 years of development, Oceanbase's application scenarios have moved from on-premise deployment to the cloud, serving more than 1,000 customers. It has provided services in 30 availability zones on three continents: America, Europe and Asia, and has been applied to many overseas e-wallets such as Pakistan Easypaisa, Africa Palmpay, Indonesia Dana, Philippines Gcash, Payso and so on.
