China s first heat flux value benchmark was established by the Rocket Institute

Recently, the radiant heat flux reference device independently developed by the Beijing Institute of Aerospace Metrology and Testing Technology of the Rocket Institute was approved by the State Administration for Market Regulation and was awarded the national measurement benchmark certificate, which is also the first heat flux value benchmark in China, filling the gap in China's radiant heat flux value transmission and traceability ability.

From 2014 to 2019, the Beijing Institute of Aerospace Metrology and Testing Technology set up a special team to break through a series of core key technologies such as double-cavity absorption calorimetry and high-power laser large-area spot homogenization, and independently developed a localized radiant heat flow standard device, which was later applied to establish the highest measurement standard for national defense, and carried out a large number of measurement services in the national defense military industry and civilian fields, verifying the stability and reliability of the device. As a result, the State Administration for Market Regulation approved the Beijing Institute of Aerospace Metrology and Testing Technology to use the radiant heat flow reference device.

Zhang Junqi, the project leader, introduced that the radiant heat flux reference device independently developed by the team provides a source of quantitative traceability for the calibration of the launch vehicle heat flux test system and the performance test of combustion devices and high-temperature resistant materials, and also provides solid measurement support for high-speed wind tunnel tests, energetic materials testing, fire scientific research, etc., with the following characteristics:

The high-accuracy absolute radiant heat flux meter and high-stability heat flux generator were independently developed to realize the accurate reproduction of the radiant heat flux.

The measurement range covers 1000 to 4000 kW per square meter, which can meet most of the high-end test needs;

The measurement uncertainty is urel=2%, and the measurement capability has reached the international advanced level.

Radiant heat flux is the radiant energy transferred per unit time and unit area, and as a parameter to characterize energy density, it has important applications in aerospace, combustion, energy utilization, thermal protection and other fields. For example, in the test run of the power system such as the launch vehicle and the thermal protection test, the radiant heat flow is the key parameter to evaluate the working state of the engine and the performance of the thermal protection system, which is of great significance to ensure the flight efficiency and the reliability and safety of the system. In the field of combustion engineering such as thermal power generation and metallurgy, radiant heat flow is one of the important parameters for monitoring the combustion state, and its accurate measurement can provide an important basis for quality control, energy conservation and emission reduction.
