Recently, some netizens broke the news on social platforms that the Tesla Cybertruck that he picked up on February 1 had rust on the body after the rain in Los Angeles.
The netizen posted that his Cybertruck body had rust spots, saying that the Cybertruck that had just picked up the car on February 1, and it rained in Los Angeles that day, and there were obvious rust marks on the metal body. To this end, he filmed and recorded the whole process of the rusting of the body, hoping to get repair and maintenance during the warranty period.
According to the netizen, he first tried to clean the body to confirm that the rust spots were not caused by stains, and then he made an appointment for Tesla's maintenance and repair service. However, Tesla's after-sales personnel said that this kind of repair needs to go through the corresponding process, and the required maintenance tools have not yet been prepared, and it is recommended that the tools be in place next month before maintenance.
The owner of the car said that this option of postponing repairs was unacceptable. He noted that he drove the Cybertruck for only 381 miles, and that it took only 11 days from the time he picked it up to the time it was found to be rusty. Usually, the car is parked in front of his house and rarely goes out. He analyzed that it may be the cold weather in Los Angeles, the rain washout, and direct sunlight causing rust on the surface of the metal body.
At present, Tesla has not officially responded to this matter. It is understood that the Cybertruck is made of stainless steel and has no color paint, which may be a reason why it is more prone to rust. The in-house maintenance staff also mentioned that they had not previously dealt with rust repairs for vehicles of this type as the Cybertruck.
The Cybertruck is Tesla's first electric pickup truck released in November 2019. Unlike other pickup trucks in the U.S. market, it uses a unique exoskeleton structure and stainless steel material, and the body is not painted, resembling a large metal body. In terms of power, the Cybertruck is available in single, dual, and triple-motor versions, with a maximum range of more than 700 kilometers.
The Cybertruck has been exhibited in several cities in China. However, due to the different classification standards in China and the United States, it may not be simply classified as a pickup truck in China. At the same time, due to capacity and regulatory constraints, the Cybertruck is unlikely to enter the Chinese market in the short term. Tesla CEO Elon Musk also said that the Cybertruck has difficulties on the road in China, but a prototype will be shipped for display.
At present, Tesla China has opened a webpage for Cybertruck, but ** has not yet been announced. The starting price of the Cybertruck in the U.S. market ranges from about 430,000 yuan to 710,000 yuan, and the first products are not expected to be delivered until 2023.
