For the outstanding performance of special forces and scouts on the battlefield in World War II, the military departments of various countries attach great importance to the development of exclusive ** for these special operations elites.
Therefore, in the early 60s of the 20th century, according to the needs of grassroots scout fighters in the self-defense counterattack against India, the Chinese industry began to develop a new type of submachine gun to improve the tactical application ability of scouts.
The feedback summarized by the front-line fighters from the battlefield shows that the Type 56 submachine gun has too much muzzle flame and noise at the ** time, which will affect the covert reconnaissance operations of the front-line scouts, and the performance of the Type 54 submachine gun can no longer meet the needs of the scouts in close combat.
Therefore, the design goal of the new submachine gun is to achieve the three major technical requirements of micro-sound, low-light, and micro-smoke.
After determining the performance indicators of the Type 54 submachine gun, we successfully broke through the special technical problems of microsound through continuous exploration and research. Based on the characteristics of the internal ballistic principle, we have specially developed bullets and silencing devices suitable for micro-punching.
Eventually, after unremitting efforts, we succeeded in finalizing the production of the 64 Type 7 in 196462 mm submachine gun.
The Type 64 submachine gun is a flexible and changeable **, which adopts the free-form bolt and inertial locking structure of the Type 54 submachine gun, so that its rate of fire is as high as 1000 rounds per minute, bringing more powerful fire density to the close combat on the front line.
In addition, the ease of processing of the freestyle bolt reduces production costs. The firing mode of the chamber is open and ready to fire, the needle is fixed at the bottom**, and the single shot mode or burst mode can be selected according to the needs of the firing.
The full gun weight is 34 kg, with a length of 843 mm when the butt is unfolded and 635 mm when retracted, it is very easy to carry and use. Whether it's individual combat or squad cooperation, the Type 64 submachine gun can provide reliable support.
The Type 64 submachine gun's muffler design is ingenious, with a sleeve structure with steel components on the outside and components such as positioning barrels and micro-acoustic bowls on the inside.
Its working principle is to repeatedly compress and expand the gunpowder gas through the multi-chamber shock wave energy dissipation structure, reduce its speed and pressure, so as to achieve the effect of reducing the sound.
At the same time, there are 36 exhaust holes arranged in a spiral line at the front of the barrel to guide the gradual discharge of flame gas, and further decompression and silencing treatment are carried out to effectively reduce the muzzle noise.
In order to further reduce the fire of the muzzle, the Type 64 submachine gun adopts a dual-base spherical charge and a reduced discharge charge, so that the bullet is fully burned in the chamber, thereby reducing the effects of sound, smoke and flame.
Its muzzle velocity is between 285-305 meters and seconds, which is a subsonic munition, and the noise generated during flight is small. Through a variety of silencing designs, the Type 64 submachine gun can not hear the sound of gunfire at a distance of 100-150 meters during the day, and at night it can ensure that the sound of gunfire can not be heard at a distance of 500 meters, and at the same time, the muzzle fire cannot be seen from 50 meters.
In a 100-square-meter room**, no gunfire can be heard outside, and the overall noise will not exceed 84 decibels, providing a high level of concealment and security.
The cartridge of the Type 64 submachine gun is not a typical round design, but a pointed cone, similar to the Type 56 submachine gun. Its warhead mass is about 76 grams, muzzle kinetic energy is about 344 joules.
Even shoot 200 at a distance of 200 metersA cold-rolled steel plate with a thickness of 5 mm and a 50-degree inclination still has an 80% probability of breakdown. The standard magazine size of this gun is 20 rounds, and an extended magazine of 30 rounds can also be used.
Although the aiming device of the Type 64 micro-acoustic submachine gun only has a movable and fixed light door, the gauge distance is up to 200 meters, and the front sight is set on the silencer bracket, which has a certain impact on the shooting accuracy, but the special operations take this into account and deliberately set up two fluorescent tubes on the light door, and cooperate with the fluorescent tube on the front sight to achieve the effect of night aiming.
This fierce and small gunfire Type 64 submachine gun has been loved by our scouts since its inception, and it shined during the Battle of the Two Mountains in 1984.
Holding the Type 64 submachine gun without a silencer, the PLA special scouts showed a very high combat quality in the round battle against Vietnam. In night operations, the low and faint sound of this whispered submachine gun was like a nightmare, making the Vietnamese army always nervous and uneasy, unable to determine the action intentions and attack direction of the PLA special scouts.
With this silent killer feature, the special scouts quietly eliminated the enemy on the battlefield again and again.
At about 5 o'clock in the morning on September 13, 1984, a reconnaissance unit of the No. 3 Reconnaissance Brigade of the Laoshan Theater was ordered by a superior to carry out a reconnaissance and capture mission. Under the leadership of the company commander Sun, they successfully launched an offensive while the Vietnamese army was tired and slack.
Company commander Sun Mou alone rushed into the sentry shed of the Vietnamese army's position, and with the accurate fire of the Type 64 submachine gun, he fired three times cleanly and successfully killed three enemies.
A comrade who rushed to the position also used Type 64 and successfully killed one person and wounded another. The remaining 2 enemies were frightened and tried to break through the shed wall to escape, but were discovered and killed by our soldiers in time.
During this operation, the fighters of our army performed well and successfully completed the task.
Company Commander Sun led the soldiers armed with Type 64 submachine guns and quickly struck at the enemy hiding in the mosquito nets in the corners. A Vietnamese prisoner was taken away after being wounded in the battle, and the entire battle took less than a minute.
The enemy in other positions did not realize that the position had been attacked until the PLA reconnaissance company withdrew 300 meters, and in the course of the pursuit, they were killed and injured by mines arranged by our scouts, and finally had to abandon the pursuit.
At 10:25 a.m. on the 13th, the reconnaissance team returned safely without a single person**. On the Vietnamese side, 13 soldiers were killed, and the entire position was in a state of panic.
After the incident, our army's electronic interceptors overheard the Vietnamese army's frightened report to the rear: "Silently attacked by China's high-level task force!" ”。
Type 64 micro-sound submachine gun: China's first self-developed micro-sound submachine gun, although it performed well in a number of performances, but due to the limitations of firearm design and technical level at that time, there were some problems that could not be ignored.
One of the most unacceptable is that the front sight is mounted on a silencer jacket, and the accuracy of the firearm gradually decreases after continuous firing or cleaning the firearm, and this decline continues to accumulate.
This made the front-line fighters with Type 64 submachine guns both love and hate.
Due to two fatal flaws, the Type 64 submachine gun was replaced by the Type 85 submachine gun with better performance, easier maintenance and more comfortable use, and withdrew from the stage of history.
Although the Type 85 submachine gun is lightweight, its R&D and production background is not easy. As China's first self-developed micro-acoustic submachine gun, its main goal is to solve the problem of "presence or absence".
However, limited by the overall technical level at that time, the Type 64 micro-silent submachine gun was designed to foreshadow many problems that could occur on the battlefield, which was a true portrayal of many Chinese ** in that era.
However, it is these rough ** that accompanied the people's army through the most difficult period, and provided valuable lessons for the later development of the Chinese workers, so that the middle workers took many detours, and finally had today's glory.
