Northern Myanmar and Kokang are two regions located in northern Myanmar, and there are some distinct differences between them. First, northern Myanmar is a broader geographical concept that usually refers to the entire northern part of Myanmar, including Kokang. Kokang is a specific city in the northern Myanmar region, located in the Shan region, and is a city with a long history and one of the largest cities in Shan State. The northern region of Myanmar is known for its abundant natural resources and diverse ethnic cultures, while Kokang is an important economic and transportation hub in the region, with bustling markets and commercial activities. In addition, the northern part of Myanmar also includes other cities and villages, such as Bagan and Mandalay, each with its own unique character and historical background. In general, northern Myanmar is a broader geographical concept, and Kokang is one of the specific cities, each with its own characteristics and importance.

In fact, the situation in northern Myanmar is quite complicated, and it has to be traced back to the Nanzhao during the Tang Dynasty, and then the Dali Dynasty mentioned in "Tianlong Babu", all of which involved northern Myanmar.

In the final analysis, the influence of the Burmese people, the main ethnic group in Myanmar, has been limited to the southern region (Lower Burma), and has not affected the northern part of Burma (Upper Yunnan Burma) at all. There have always been Shan (Dai), Kachin (Jingpo), Wa (Wa), Kokang (Han) and so on in northern Myanmar, and there is nothing to do with the Burmese.

The Shan, Kachin, Wa, and Kokang ethnic minorities each have their own independent regimes. During the British colonial period, they were independent of each other and not subordinate to each other. After World War II, British control waned considerably, and various colonies sought independence, including Burma.

As for Kokang, it was also in 1947 that the original Han nationality was changed from the local Tusi to the Kokang tribe. Because as an independent ethnic group, they can enjoy the same independent autonomy as the Shan, Kachin, and Chin people.

Specifically, Myanmar is a multi-ethnic country, and our country generally divides Myanmar into southern Myanmar and northern Myanmar, southern Myanmar belongs to the plain area, controlled by Myanmar**, and northern Myanmar belongs to the mountainous area, which is controlled by various local armed forces, of which Kokang only belongs to a small area in northern Myanmar.
