"Smart keys" have become mainstream, unlocking the door and starting the engine every time you put the key in your pocket or bag, without having to keep the key in your hand every time. However, smart keys are actually much more than just these features.
First of all, one of the functions that can be achieved by Honda, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW's smart keys is the opening and closing of power windows. When wanting to open or close the windows, some people may have to get in the car and start the engine before they can do so. But there's really nothing you want, even outside the car, just press and hold the unlock button on the smart key to open all four windows.
This feature is useful in the summer, when you want to exhaust some of the hot air from inside the car before getting into the car, or when you want to freshen the air. If you want to close the window, just press and hold the lock button. In the case of BMW, a long press on the BMW logo on the smart key can close all windows, including door locks and sunroofs, and fold the rearview mirrors. By holding down the key marker, the mirror returns from the unlocked state of the door and the glass opens.
The smart key battery can also be set to a power-saving mode. Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, and Subaru's smart keys have a power-saving mode. It's very easy to set up; For Toyota, simply press and hold the lock button on the smart key and press the unlock button twice. When the light in the upper right corner of the button is lit four times, it means that the power saving mode is complete.
If you have two keys, but only use one of them regularly, it might be a good idea to put one of them in power-saving mode. For Mercedes-Benz, double click the lock button, the red light will always turn on and then off, indicating that the power saving mode has been set.
In addition, there is a function to disable the operation of the smart key, which can effectively prevent theft. Honda's smart key is equipped with this feature, which indicates that the smart key's radio waves are turned off by pressing and holding the unlock and lock buttons at the same time and the top of the key flashes red. Even if the key is close to the car, no functions can be used. To unlock, you need to press the unlock button or lock button once.
Finally, Subaru's PIN keyless entry feature allows you to unlock the key with a pre-registered PIN if the key is damaged or lost. First of all, you need to register a 6-digit PIN first, and you can use the smart key button and the request switch on the back door to register each number. If you are playing outdoors and are afraid of losing your smart key, you can leave the key in the car and lock it with the ** door lock in the driver's position.
Then, when it's time to get inside the car, enter the PIN code into the request switch on the back door. If the number is "3", press 3 times and wait for the buzzer to go once, if the number is "5", press 5 times and wait for the buzzer to go once, and so on. With a long beep, the door unlocks.
