Bob Pettit, full name Robert Lee Pettit JrBorn December 12, 1932 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA, he is a former American professional basketball player who plays as a power forward center. He was drafted by the Milwaukee Hawks (now Atlanta Hawks) in the 1954 NBA Draft and played for the Milwaukee St. Louis Hawks throughout his career.

Growth:

Petit began his basketball career at Baton Rouge High School in Baton Rouge, and although he was dropped out of the varsity team twice as a freshman and sophomore, he worked tirelessly with his father's encouragement and eventually grew to 6'4" in his junior year of high school and managed to stay on the varsity team. In 1950, he led the team to its first state championship in more than 20 years. In college, he excelled at Louisiana State University, averaging 274 points and two All-American.

Career:

Pettit's career began in 1954 when he averaged 20. per game in his rookie season4 points and 13A performance of 8 rebounds won the honor of Best Rookie. In the 1955-56 season, he averaged 25. per game7 points and 16A performance of 2 rebounds won the MVP. In the 1957-58 season, he helped the Hawks win the NBA championship. In his 11 seasons, Petit scored a total of 20,880 points, averaging 264 points, 162 rebounds, 3 assists. His No. 9 jersey was retired by the Hawks and he was inducted into the Nai Smith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1970, the NBA's Top 50 Superstars in 1996, and the NBA's Top 75 Superstars in 2021.

Pettit's major accomplishments include the 1958 NBA Championship, two NBA regular season MVPs (1956 and 1959), eleven NBA All-Star (1955-1965), four All-Star MVPs (1956, 1958-59, 1962), ten NBA All-Star First Team (1955-1964), 1964-65 NBA All-NBA Second Team, Two-time NBA scoring champion (1956 and 1959) and NBA Rookie of the Year in 1954-55.
