Hu Die, formerly known as Hu Ruihua, was born in Shanghai in 1908. At the age of 16, he was admitted to the Chinese Film School with excellent results. A year later, she participated in the filming of "War Exploits" and started her career as a film actress.
Not long after, the movie "Autumn Fan Resentment" started filming, and she played the heroine for the first time and became an instant hit. Since then, Hu Die's films have continued, and more than a dozen films have been shot in three years. In 1928, she participated in the martial arts movie "Burning Red Lotus Temple", which quickly became popular all over the country.
In 1931, she starred in China's first sound film "Singing Girl Red Peony", and she and Ruan Lingyu went hand in hand and became a double in the film industry.
In January 1933, Hu Die defeated Ruan Lingyu with his excellent acting skills and was successfully elected as the actress. Since then, she has been the queen of the film three times in a row and has become the hottest female movie star at that time.
In August 1937, the Battle of Songhu broke out, with nearly 800,000 heavy troops invested and fought hard for three months, but failed to stop the enemy's attack, and Shanghai finally fell.
In order to take refuge, Hu Die came to Hong Kong with her husband, who was doing business. In Hong Kong, Hu Die continued her film career, starring in films such as "Peerless Beauty" and "Peacock Flying Southeast".
However, the good times were short-lived, and in the winter of 1941, Hong Kong also fell to the Japanese army. At that time, Hu Die was very famous throughout Asia, and the Japanese army broke into her home many times and threatened her to make movies to promote the so-called "Sino-Japanese friendship".
Hu Die resolutely refused to cooperate with the Japanese invaders, and in order to escape, she fled Hong Kong with her family. However, on the way to Chongqing, Hu Die's luggage was stolen, which contained all the savings she had earned over the years of filmmaking.
Hu Die's belongings were stolen, and she turned to her friend Lin Zhiming, who introduced Dai Li, whom she knew. Dai Li has been interested in Hu Die for a long time, and now that he has this opportunity, he is naturally very happy.
He asked Hu Die to make a list of the stolen property, and then sent his men to investigate. Although the thieves who stole Hu Die's belongings were found, many valuables have been stolen.
In order to please Hu Die, Dai Li made up all the new ones according to the list. These new pieces of jewelry are even better and more valuable than the condition that Hu Die lost. Hu Die understands Dai Li's thoughts, but she has a good relationship with her husband Pan Yousheng, and she doesn't want to have anything to do with Dai Li.
After politely thanking Dai Li, she hurriedly packed her bags and prepared to leave Chongqing with her family. However, the men sent by Dai Li captured Pan Yousheng and imprisoned him in prison to threaten Hu Die.
Soon after, he sent Pan Yousheng to Yunnan.
Hu Die was imprisoned by Dai Li, and in order to protect her family, she chose patience and obedience. In order to win Hu Die's favor, Dai Li did his best in food, clothing, housing and transportation to meet all Hu Die's needs.
He built four luxurious mansions for Hu Die in different places, and the precious flowers and plants in the mansion alone cost more than 100,000 oceans. Dai Li always wanted to marry Hu Die, but Hu Die was firmly opposed.
In the end, Dai Li forced Hu Die's ex-husband Pan Yousheng to divorce to ensure the safety of Hu Die and his family. However, Dai died in a plane crash during the preparations for the wedding.
After Dai Li's death, Hu Die regained his freedom, remarried Pan Yousheng and moved to Hong Kong.
Hu Die and Pan Yousheng walked through the years of Hong Kong hand in hand in love, and their lives were full of happiness. However, Poon fell seriously ill five years after his arrival in Hong Kong and passed away a few months later.
At that time, Hu Die was in her youth, still radiant, and many people persuaded her to find new happiness, but she insisted on not marrying. It took her a long time to come out of the grief of losing her lover.
After that, she devoted all her energy to the film career, and it was not until the age of 58 that she ended her film career. Eventually, Hu moved to Vancouver and lived with his children until his death in 1989 at the age of 81.
