Recently, the first batch of Chinese foreign students from Argentina, Japan, Ecuador and Malaysia in Fuzhou were admitted to Malaysia's Manjung Fuqing Yang Nanhua Independent High School. Under the mediation of Nian Bin, Deputy Secretary-General of the Fuqing Municipal Committee of the Zhi Gong Party, and with the strong support and help of Guo Jinguang, Chairman of the Famous Overseas Chinese Association of Manjung Fuqing Yang Fuqing Association of Malaysia, the students were successfully admitted to Nanhua Independent High School.
After arriving in Malaysia, these Fuzhou overseas Chinese students were warmly received by the Malaysian Manjung Fuqing Association, and President Guo of the Fuqing Association organized the members of the association to pick up and drop off the members of the association and handle various matters such as school admission procedures, so that the children could feel the warmth of home.
These students also expressed their gratitude to the motherland for attaching importance to the descendants of overseas Chinese and the help of overseas Chinese sages, and that they can have the opportunity to receive such a good education, and that they should study hard in the future, make progress every day, and serve their hometown and motherland with the best results.
Sekolah Menengah Persendirian, also known as Malaysian Independent Secondary School, is a school that insists on mother-tongue teaching under the implementation of the Education Act 1961 in Malaysia, refuses to be restructured into a national secondary school and is forced to raise its own funds. Because it does not receive a penny of funding, it is called an "independent secondary school".
As of February 2018, there are 60 independent secondary schools in Malaysia[1].
Independent secondary schools are funded by Malaysian Chinese, Chinese and non-governmental organizations, and students in independent secondary schools have to pay their own tuition fees. The operation of the independent secondary schools is under the responsibility of the General Association of Chinese School Boards of Malaysia (UCSCAM) and the General Association of Chinese School Teachers of Malaysia (HKSCAM).
