According to the China Mental Health Survey, the lifetime prevalence of depressive disorders in China is 68%, including 3 for depression4%, at present, there are 95 million people suffering from depression in China, and about 280,000 people commit suicide every year, of which 40% suffer from depression.

First of all, I will take you to see the world of depression, and the following is the self-report of depressed people:

I was tired, but I couldn't sleep in bed, and I could clearly feel the stones in my brain growing wildly, but I couldn't control it.

Walking down the street, the bustling crowd made me feel lonely, the sudden collision of eyes scared me, and I just wanted to escape back to my nest.

Many times, eating is an ordeal for me, every chewing and swallowing is a burden, and everything I eat is the same, just to get energy.

At first, I defined this as "briefly unhappy", until I saw two villains fighting until one side tore the other apart, and I realized that I couldn't live a normal life anymore.

After going to the hospital, I got a diagnosis of major depression. With the help of the medication, I had a good night's sleep and that was my happiest moment during that time. Later, the medication made me sleepy and I was so confused that I could barely think.

Sometimes, my hands shake uncontrollably; Sometimes, I was eroded by the feeling of suffocation, and it was difficult to breathe, as painful as drowning; Sometimes, the food makes me feel nauseous, and I often don't eat much for days and can only drink water or eat liquids.

When I'm in a bad state, I can't help but break the glass on the table, hold the glass shard tightly in my hand, and watch the red blood run down my hand, and the real pain makes me realize that I am alive and not a puppet.

The doctor said that this was a symptom of somatization, and that the psychological and mental pain was not resolved in time, and that it was reflected in the body after accumulation.

There are many reasons why depression can be clinically caused, including:

1.Family factors.

While scientific studies have denied the claim that genes are responsible for depression, there is no denying the fact that a family history of depression does increase the risk.

In fact, many psychologists have a view that some emotional and thinking characteristics of depression can subtly affect other family members.

Especially as a parent, if there is depression, it will inevitably affect the child. For example, the negative thinking patterns and low mood of depressed patients not only affect their ability to raise and care for their children, but also make it easier for children to learn such "symptoms", which will naturally increase their risk of depression in the future.

For parents who don't have depression, if they have problems with the way they raise their children, or if they have other family problems, it can also increase the risk of depression when their children grow up.

2.Physical ailments.

Sometimes, physical ailments can also lead to depression, especially chronic diseases, which can last for a long time, trigger some physical discomfort, and affect normal work, socialization, and entertainment. After a long time, it is easy to wear down people's will, causing mental fatigue and low mood.

Diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, kidney disease, and hypothyroidism can all lead to depression.

The good news is that chronic diseases can often be managed through diet, exercise, lifestyle habits, and medications. And depression can sometimes help improve physical ailments.

3.Death and loss.

People inevitably experience great grief in the face of death and loss in their lives. Someone who has experienced such a blow as the death of a loved one or friend, or a breakup of a broken love, knows how painful it can be.

Losing an important person or relationship in our lives can be difficult to accept in a short period of time, and even feel that there is nothing to love in life. Usually this pain and depression is temporary, and even if the level of grief is high after the event, most people will gradually come out.

However, such events can easily trigger depression, and if some bad coping methods are used during this period, the risk of depression will be increased.

4.Stressful events.

Stressful events, as the name suggests, are events that are prone to mental stress and require our high-intensity concentration to deal with.

For example, at work, if you suddenly have to take over a difficult and high-risk project, if you don't do it well, you may even find it difficult to secure your position. Or for a student facing the college entrance examination, there is already exam anxiety, the exam date is getting closer day by day, and the more and more negative, thinking that he may not be able to go to school, he secretly weeps.

Sometimes, happy events such as getting married and having children can also become stressful events, because these things require careful planning, and it takes more time and energy than usual to do, which naturally increases the psychological burden.

5.Abuse and bullying.

Victims of physical or emotional abuse, or school bullying are often more likely to be at increased risk of depression.

In particular, experiencing long-term abuse and verbal abuse in the family at an early age, or being in an abusive relationship as an adult, and experiencing control and malicious aggression from a partner, can seriously affect a person's self-esteem and sense of security.

In the past, there were frequent tragic incidents of depression and even suicide due to school bullying. If you are experiencing such trauma, it is important to find a way to keep yourself safe first and then seek help and support.

6.Important interpersonal disharmony.

Harvard University has done a research survey, found that what affects people's happiness index is not the amount of income or social status, but the harmony of important interpersonal relationships, especially intimate relationships.

On the other hand, if a person's important interpersonal relationships, especially marriage, children, etc., have problems, it will seriously affect a person's happiness and satisfaction with life.

Discordant important interpersonal relationships, frequent family conflicts and conflicts, will produce bad emotions.

Because our lives are inseparable from these important relationships, which are problematic in themselves, they will inevitably lead to long-term emotional distress, and if these relationships are not improved and emotions are not expressed, depression may take advantage of it.

However, depression can also be said to be a self-preservation mechanism of your body, it really can't stand that you are so neglected about your body and emotions, so it does everything it can to make you stop, let you take good care of your body and emotions, and let you learn to really love yourself.

So, please relax, stop feeling helpless and scared about your situation, it's just a very helpless self-protection done by your body, maybe this way is extreme, but please don't be afraid, take a deep breath, there is nothing more important in this world than my body and emotions, please do your best to take care of yourself.
