The National Cancer Center is an organizational structure established by the Ministry of Health, which is mainly responsible for assisting the Ministry of Health in formulating the National Cancer Prevention and Control Plan. Due to the problem of diagnosis and treatment cycle, the data of the center is generally delayed by 3 years. Therefore, the data released in February 2024 is the 2022 China cancer disease burden data, and analyzes the trends of cancer incidence and mortality from 2000 to 2018, which is also one of the latest and most representative reports on cancer incidence and mortality data in China at present.
According to the report, it is estimated that there will be about 4,824,700 new cases of cancer in China in 2022, that is, the overall crude incidence rate of cancer is 341 per 100,000 people75 cases. Among them, the incidence of males is slightly more common than that of females, which is 11 times (2,533,900 males and 2,290,800 females).
The age-standardised incidence (i.e., the number of new cases in the same age group) is also higher in males than females. In terms of age distribution, 35 years old is a hurdle, and the incidence of whole cancer is relatively low in the 0-34 age group, which increases significantly from the 35-39 age group, and reaches a peak in the 80-84 age group.
February** Dynamic Incentive Program Cancer data is specifically divided into incidence and mortality, and in 2022, the overall incidence of cancer will increase and the mortality rate will decrease.
In terms of cancer types (incidence), the top 10 types of cancer are lung cancer (106).060,000, colorectal cancer 51710,000, thyroid cancer 46610,000, liver cancer 36770,000, stomach cancer 35870,000, breast cancer 35720,000, esophageal cancer 22400,000, cervical cancer 15070,000, prostate cancer 13420,000, pancreatic cancer 11870 thousand. Among them, the incidence of cancer is different for men and women. See the figure below for details
Cancer mortality is also higher in men than in women. Among them, the top 5 causes of cancer death in men are lung cancer, liver cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, and esophageal cancer, accounting for 74 of the total cancer deaths28%。The top 5 causes of cancer death in women are lung cancer, colorectal cancer, liver cancer, gastric cancer, and breast cancer, accounting for 58 percent of all cancer deaths78%。
At the same time, World Health Organization data suggests that about one in five people worldwide will develop cancer in their lifetime, and about one in nine men and one in twelve women die from cancer. Lung cancer, breast cancer and colorectal cancer are still firmly in the top three.
It is estimated that by 2050, there will be more than 35 million new cases of cancer worldwide, a 77% increase from the estimated number of cases in 2022.
