Lebanese Allah launched a drone attack on the Northern Command of the Israeli army on the 9th in retaliation for the death of a senior commander of Allah a day ago, and a leader of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) was killed by a drone on the 2nd.
Lebanese Allah said on the 9th that Allah sent a number of drones to attack the headquarters of the Israeli Northern Command in Sefeid, Israel. A person familiar with the matter told Reuters that this was the first attack by Allah in Lebanon since the outbreak of the current round of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Sefeid is located about 14 kilometres from the Lebanese-Israeli border, far from the area where Allah and Israeli forces regularly exchange fire. The Associated Press reported that this shows that tensions on the Lebanese-Israeli border are escalating.
Since the outbreak of the current round of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the Lebanese Allah Party has continuously attacked northern Israel with rockets and anti-tank missiles, instigated Hamas, and forced Israel to evacuate about 80,000 border residents. The Israeli army carried out air strikes and artillery strikes on targets in southern Lebanon.
The Israeli military confirmed on the 9th that an Israeli base was "attacked by enemy aircraft", but did not detail the location of the attack, and did not report the loss of personnel and property.
Allah Lebanon said the attack on the 9th was part of its retaliatory actions. Naaim Qasim, deputy general secretary of Allah Lebanon, said in a televised address that day that Allah was reluctant to expand the war, but if Israel did, Allah "will inevitably respond to the maximum."
Saleh Arurry, deputy chairman of Hamas's Politburo, was killed in a drone strike in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, on the 2nd of this month. Wissam Tawil, a senior commander of Lebanese Allah, was killed in an attack on the Lebanese-Israeli border on the 8th. Reuters reported that Tawil was the highest-ranking commander killed in an attack on Lebanon's Allah party since the outbreak of the current round of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and he played an important role in combat operations in southern Lebanon.
According to AFP, the ongoing fighting between Allah and Israeli forces has killed 185 Lebanese people, including 139 Allah fighters and more than 20 civilians, including three journalists.
In addition, according to the Associated Press, Israeli military drones attacked a car in the southern Lebanese village town of Ganduriya on the 9th, killing three Allah fighters. The identities of the three have not yet been confirmed. (END) (Bao Xuelin).
