In 1965, in Zhongnanhai, Beijing, I heard the news just now, how could he be excited, the reason is very simple, that is, Chiang Kai-shek, who had fled Taiwan for 16 years, finally relented, although he put forward six harsher conditions, but at the same time, he also had the intention of bringing Taiwan to return to the motherland peacefully.

Hearing this news can really be described as a celebration of the whole country, for the sake of national reunification and national unity, after thinking about it again and again, ** also chose to back down and agreed to all the conditions of Chiang Kai-shek.

It stands to reason that ** has opened Chrysostom, and the conditions are also proposed by Lao Jiang on his own initiative, and a negotiation can be regarded as a pleasure for the guest of honor, and then it is time to start studying the issue of return, right? But the result is a big disappointment, not to mention that it was then, and Taiwan still has not returned to this day.

So what's going on here? What conditions did Lao Jiang put forward at that time, and since he agreed, why did he go back on his word?

Being on an isolated island and being in China is in China.

Different from the situation imagined by ordinary people, in fact, in 1949, although Chiang Kai-shek and his son would rather flee Taiwan than surrender to our party, they never had the idea of "independence" from beginning to end, and there was only one thought in their hearts at that time, that is, with the help of the Americans, "** mainland" and slowly regain the former foundation.

This idea lasted for four years, and during the Korean War, Chiang Kai-shek's desire for the mainland also reached its peak, and in his eyes, the newly established New China, the poor and backward Chinese, and the equipment that had been thrown away for an entire era could not be defeated by the United ** in any way, so as long as the volunteer army in the north was defeated, he could start from the southeast coast, all the way back to Nanjing, and fight against our party again.

I have to say that Chiang Kai-shek's strategic planning is still good, but it's a pity that the ideal is plump, but the reality is skinny, don't say it's him, even the people of the world didn't expect that in the case of such a huge difference in strength, our People's Volunteers actually relied on their tenacious willpower to defeat the 16th ** team led by the United States!

Seeing this situation, Lao Jiang was completely stunned, seeing that the Americans were beaten and lost their armor, he could only give up the ** plan with hatred, and instead launched a defensive posture, always guarding against the People's Liberation Army on the other side.

However, although the old Chiang Kai-shek has obviously confessed in action, he has never been soft in terms of momentum, no matter who asks, Chiang Kai-shek's attitude is the same, only one sentence "My goal is to ** the mainland and unify China!" ”

As for the reason, it is not difficult to understand; on the one hand, most of the Kuomintang officers and men on the island of Taiwan have left their homeland, and if Chiang had not said so, I am afraid that the military spirit would have been dispersed long ago; on the other hand, Chiang Kai-shek's remarks were also addressed to the United States; you must know that since the end of the Korean War, the United States, which deeply felt the strength of New China, has put forward a proposal to the Kuomintang side, hoping that they will cooperate with the United States and pursue the policy of "one Taiwan, one China," that is, to completely separate Taiwan from China just as Pakistan did when it secedes from India.

In the eyes of the Americans, this is the best choice for both themselves and the Kuomintang, but what they never expected was that Chiang Kai-shek, who had been bowing his eyebrows and constantly begging the West for equipment support, was directly furious when he heard the words "one Taiwan, one China." Not only did he refuse to compromise, but he also took a very tough attitude saying that he resolutely upholds the "one-China principle" and issued a warning to the island, saying, "Whoever engages in **, I will take care of whomever it is!" ”

It can be seen from this that no matter what mistakes Lao Chiang has made, his heart to safeguard national unity and national unity is still worthy of our admiration; of course, the party and the party also attach great importance to Lao Chiang's attitude, and for this reason, when the cross-strait situation is slightly stable, our party has also secretly given a lot of help, such as agreeing with Chiang Kai-shek to keep Kinmen and Matsu in order to communicate with the mainland, and also to carry out artillery bombardment against Kinmen, and use the method of "fighting a fake war" to block the mouths of the Americans and stop "one Taiwan, one China" The implementation of the policy and so on and so forth.

Chiang Kai-shek was also very moved by our party's measures, and his attitude towards New China also quietly changed, from the previous hostility to trust, and seeing this situation, he also made a decision immediately, that is, he took the initiative to invite Chiang Kai-shek's father and son to "go home"!

Return to negotiations. Although the overall situation has been decided, in 1949 Chiang Kai-shek and his son still chose to retreat to Taiwan, but their father and son have never thought about independence in their hearts, but have been looking forward to the reunification of China, seeing this, the party and the party also realized one thing, that is, we must seize this opportunity to complete peaceful reunification as much as possible, but at the same time, a question has made both sides of the strait quite worried, that is, who should be sent to serve as this lobbyist?

It can be said that since the new China's attitude toward Taiwan was relaxed, Lao Chiang quickly raised the idea of a peaceful return through negotiations, but it is a pity that the Kuomintang and the Communist Party have always lacked an opportunity, or a weighty lobbyist, so they have never talked about the point.

Chiang Kai-shek was also very disappointed when he saw that our party had not moved for a long time, and he was often in a daze in the direction of Beijing in the Shilin Residence, and he had told Chiang Ching-kuo more than once that he hoped that his son would be able to bury himself back to the mainland and return to his roots after a hundred years.

At the same time, the party and *** are also very anxious, but fortunately, the hard work pays off, after many searches and efforts, finally, a man who is enough to take on this heavy responsibility in terms of identity and status appeared, he is Cao Juren from Hong Kong!

This Cao Juren is not ordinary, he is not only Chiang Ching-kuo's personal friend, but also a good friend of Ye Ting**, it is really appropriate for him to be this lobbyist, for this reason, ** has personally met him, and conveyed the meaning of our party, only one point, that is, as long as the regime can be unified, anything else is easy to discuss!

Hearing this, Cao Juren was deeply concerned, and he did not disappoint the expectations of the people on both sides of the strait, and after only one meeting, Chiang Kai-shek made concessions, and took the initiative to hint at his intention to hold peace talks, not to mention, but also to put forward a subtle little request, that is, to ask Cao Juren to go to see the situation of the ancestral grave at home.

This move is undoubtedly meaningful, firstly, I want to give myself a step down, and secondly, I also want to see, ** attitude towards myself and the Jiang family, after all, if the mainland destroys the ancestral grave of the Jiang family, how can we treat their family well in the future?

And the follow-up ** taken by Cao Juren and sent back also confirmed Chiang Kai-shek's conjecture, he did not lie, the ancestral tomb and old mansion of the Chiang family were not damaged, but were protected by the local ** good students, which was no different from before he left the mainland.

Looking at the scenery of his hometown in **, Chiang Kai-shek's homesickness in his heart is beyond words, but it is obvious that this evidence alone cannot dispel his suspicions, the reason is not difficult to understand, you know, in history, Chiang Kai-shek has not promised his subordinates, such as Zhang Xueliang, Yang Hucheng, etc., but in the end? After the goal is achieved, these people will either be imprisoned for life or die unexpectedly, he is a villain himself, and naturally he will always spend the belly of a gentleman with the heart of a villain.

Therefore, after this, although Chiang Kai-shek was tempted, he was still waiting, and he waited for three or five years, or until around the year, that he loosened again.

In the past two years, there have been two major events that have made Lao Jiang quite excited, the first is the successful test explosion of New China's first atomic bomb, with this kind of power to "nuclearize" the island of Taiwan is as easy as a finger, but New China did not do this, not even the intention of threat; And the second is the return of the Kuomintang "second-in-command" Li Zongren.

In July 1965, along with the party and the first pass of Li Zongren's application to return to China, the former deputy ** of the Kuomintang, the leader of the Gui warlords, finally returned to this land after more than ten years of absence, this incident to Chiang Kai-shek, to the island of Taiwan is not a small touch, the reason is very simple, you know, once upon a time, our party and Li Zongren also had a deep blood feud, such people have not been judged, but have been courteous, so how can others be held accountable?

For a time, there were countless people in the Kuomintang who wanted to return to the mainland and peaceful reunification, and Chiang Kai-shek's Shilin official residence was even more crowded with people every day, and these people who had left their homeland were persuading him to seize the opportunity to lead Taiwan back to the motherland, and he himself was quite moved, so soon after Li Zongren returned to China, Lao Chiang made a feat that shocked the world, that is, he took the initiative to negotiate peace with China, hoping to exchange six conditions for the peaceful reunification of the two sides of the strait!

Six conditions. In 1965, with the return of Li Zongren, the former second-in-command of the Kuomintang, there was also an uproar on the island of Taiwan, and a gust of peaceful reunification swept through the treasure island, and even Chiang Kai-shek's father and son were quite moved, so it was not long before the old Chiang put down his last insistence and planned to use six conditions in exchange for the "third cooperation" between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party!

First, Chiang Kai-shek hoped that he could return to the mainland as chairman of the Kuomintang; Second, after Chiang Kai-shek returned to the mainland, Chiang Ching-kuo remained in Taiwan and served as the governor of Taiwan Province; Third, after the reunification of the two sides of the strait, if Taiwan Province encounters economic difficulties, the mainland must provide assistance in accordance with the share of US aid to Taiwan. Fourth, Taiwan's navy and air force can be under Beijing's jurisdiction, but the army must have four divisions stationed in Xiamen, Kinmen, and Taiwan.

Fifth, the two cities of Xiamen and Kinmen will be merged into a place similar to the ** Special Economic Zone, which will be regarded as a buffer zone between Taiwan compatriots and the people of the mainland, and the position of mayor must be held by Taiwanese; Sixth, Chiang Kai-shek hoped that Beijing would not lower the salaries and living standards of the Taiwan people and civil servants, and that everything would be done according to the original standards.

To sum up, this is the six conditions that Chiang Kai-shek put forward to the party and **, some of which sound reasonable, but the rest are really a bit harsh, but what is surprising is that for the reunification of the motherland, ***, who never gave in, chose to "bow his head" this time, except for some of the conditions that were modified, the rest were all agreed! Let's look at them one by one.

First of all, for Chiang Kai-shek's return to the mainland as the chairman of the Kuomintang, ** chose to agree without thinking about it, but, for political security considerations, his old man also attached a restriction, that is, Chiang Kai-shek and his old ministry are not allowed to settle in his "hometown" Zhejiang Province, in addition to the rest of the provinces at his disposal, in exchange, ** can give Lushan to Chiang Kai-shek as his pension and office location.

In this regard, Chiang Kai-shek must be dissatisfied in his heart, after all, his original intention of returning to the mainland was to return to his roots, and now he can't settle in Zhejiang, he is more or less lost, but after all, Zhejiang is his lair, if he thinks differently, he will never let *** settle in Hunan.

Secondly, the party has no objection to Chiang Kai-shek's proposal to let Chiang Ching-kuo take up the post of governor of Taiwan Province, and the reason is very simple, the Chiang family has ruled in Taiwan for so many years, and they must be more familiar with the situation in Taiwan than the mainlanders, and there is nothing wrong with "governing Taiwan with Taiwan."

After all, if Taiwan returns to the motherland, the economic, political, and military value generated to the mainland will be huge, and compared with it, what is the annual value of hundreds of millions of dollars?

After all, our party has always adhered to the principle of "power from the barrel of a gun", if you can't hold the army steadily, it is difficult to guarantee that Taiwan will not have another storm after the return, but after thinking about it again, ** still chose to agree despite public opinion, as for the reason given by his old man is also very simple, only one point, ** The PLA is all Chinese, and it is not impossible to let Chinese garrison China's land, as long as it can be peacefully reunified, this is not a problem!

Finally, with regard to Articles 5 and 6, Chiang Kai-shek's remarks are completely reasonable; the former is that the two sides of the strait have just been reunified, and it is normal for them to be uncomfortable, and it is very necessary to create a buffer zone under such circumstances, and in terms of market economy, Taiwan compatriots are much more familiar with it than the mainland, and it is undoubtedly the best choice to let Taiwanese become mayors of this free market.

As for the latter, it's better to say about **, people's income, and living standards, and we have agreed to hundreds of millions of aids, can we still send these civil servants a couple of dates?

Therefore, soon the party and the first party sent back the news to Chiang Kai-shek, saying that they could agree to all the conditions of the Taiwan side, according to common sense, seeing that the mainland is so sincere, the reunification of the two sides of the strait should also be a very smooth thing, however, it is regrettable that the next series of changes disrupted all this.

On the one hand, in 1966, New China entered a chaotic and turbulent era, so that Chiang Kai-shek was suspicious, on the other hand, it was not easy to wait for the situation on the mainland to ease slightly, Chiang Kai-shek and *** The two of them are also approaching, and after the two of them died one after another, the task of cross-strait reunification can only be handed over to the next generation, as for why Chiang Ching-kuo failed to fulfill his father's last wish, that is a later story, we can only use four words to evaluate, that is, "time is also fate"!
