More than 90% of Chinese students are unable to stay in the UK or Australia, a phenomenon that has sparked widespread discussion and concern. Why are so many Chinese students unable to stay and have to return to China? This article analyzes several of the main reasons and details each one in detail.

Many Chinese students do not have a correct understanding of the essence of staying, and they have a wrong understanding of the goal of staying for permanent residence or work permits. One thing that international students and local families need to understand is that the opportunity to stay is an exchange relationship. International students can use their study abroad background to exchange with the local community and get the opportunity to stay. However, this opportunity is not for international students to compete for popular industries and positions, but to provide an opportunity for international students to fill the gap in local talent. International students should choose those career fields where local talent is scarce and local students are reluctant to pursue. That's the key. However, many Chinese students are too inclined to choose schools and majors according to their preferences, pursuing their favorite majors and popular career directions. They always wish they could do the tricks, but in fact, this kind of being too smart will affect their chances of permanent residence.

Chinese students are generally very utilitarian and often very meticulous in their decision-making. The goals they pursue are often not in line with their own realities. Many international students spend too much time in school, detached from the orbit of society, and lose their correct judgment. They think that they can only make a lot of money by studying business abroad, so most of them choose business or related majors. More than half of those who study in the UK are choosing business and pan-business majors. It is true that business can get high-paying jobs, and every year there are many people who get jobs with millions of annual salaries in the first year of graduation. However, these opportunities are often concentrated in a small number of elite universities, such as Oxbridge in the UK, the University of Melbourne in Turkey and Australia, Tsinghua University, Peking University and Jiaotong University in China, and the University of Hong Kong. Most others have a harder time getting into these resource-advantaged schools. In addition, with the employment outlook in 2023, the employment situation for business students will become more severe. The competition is extremely fierce, and the undergraduate, master's and doctoral students of these prestigious universities have basically snatched up employment opportunities, and it is difficult for others to enter this circle. Therefore, business students need to have a commercial mindset and understand that good resources are only in the hands of a few. 80% of people end up working for these 20% or becoming a stepping stone for these 20%. Many business students still face various employment problems after returning to China, some can only get 5-6k jobs, some can't find jobs, some have a salary level of about 150,000 yuan, and some have 300,000 yuan. There are various intervals. Therefore, how to stand out among the more than 400,000 international students and become the 20% is the key.

Chinese students in several major study destinations abroad, such as the United Kingdom, Australia, the United States and Canada, all face a common problem, that is, the circle of international students is relatively closed and there are few channels. These international students are fighting on their own, rarely being able to form their own teams, with limited cohesion and a competitive mentality among themselves. They are afraid that others will occupy their opportunities, and they are afraid that they will be surpassed by those who are weaker than their own abilities. Therefore, they lack a sense of teamwork, only a sense of competition, competing with each other and comparing with each other. As a result of this situation, each class of international students is a novice who has not been guided by their seniors, and more often than not, they can only face challenges alone. Moreover, Chinese students are one of the mainstream students in various countries, and there are many of them, and the competition for resources and opportunities is very fierce. In this environment, only some people can be left, and the rest can only be eliminated, which also leads to the phenomenon that it is difficult for Chinese students to stay. Chinese students need to realize that teamwork and sharing information is very important, and forming a team like Indians will have more chances of success.

Finally, there is another important reason why Chinese students are more likely to look for jobs than start their own businesses. They lack the ability and awareness to start a business, preferring to work part-time and pursue stability. However, entrepreneurship is one of the best opportunities to stay. Starting a business not only allows international students to stay on their own, but also leads others to stay with them. In the UK, it is very easy for science and technology enterprises to stay, especially if they set up their own company, and they can get a renewal after graduation. However, many international students are reluctant to try to start a business, and just want to find a boss to work for them, rather than taking the risk of starting a business. This kind of part-time job mentality restricts their development and leads to a situation where they cannot stay.

To sum up, the main reasons why it is difficult for Chinese students to stay are as follows: they do not correctly understand the essence of staying, they are too utilitarian, they do not have a sense of teamwork and limited circle channels, and they are unwilling to start a business. In the face of these problems, Chinese students should be more aware of how to survive and stay after studying abroad, and make choices that suit them.
