Recently, Guangzhou Customs seized 3 pieces of endangered wooden furniture weighing 625 kg.

The customs officers of Nansha Customs, which belongs to Guangzhou Customs, inspect a shipment of export goods according to the risk control instructions. After opening the container, the on-site customs officer found that there were many pieces of wooden furniture in the container, some of which were hard in texture, with a smooth and special texture on the surface of the wood, with a faint special wood fragrance, which was suspected to be an endangered wood product. Identified by professional institutions, it was confirmed that the wooden box in the batch of wooden furniture was a product of the genus Dalbergia of the Legume family, the wooden coffee table was a product of the genus Dalbergia of the Legume family, and the carved wooden chair was a broad-leaved Dalbergia product of the Legume family, with a total weight of 6251 kg, all of which belong to the Appendix of the International Convention on Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) Protected Species.

Customs reminder: China is a party to the International Convention on Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), and controls the import and export of endangered wild plants and their products listed in the appendix of the Convention. Without legally obtaining the import and export permit certificate and other materials issued by the relevant state administrative departments, no unit or individual shall import endangered wild plants and their products by freight, mail, express mail and passenger carrying, etc., and if the violation is serious and constitutes a crime, criminal responsibility will be investigated in accordance with law.
