Munich, Germany, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- On Feb. 16, local time, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and head of the Communist Party of China, met with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference. The meeting was frank, substantive and constructive.
Wang Yi said that at the end of last year, the President and Biden had a successful meeting, and had an in-depth exchange of views on strategic, overall and directional issues related to China-US relations, and reached important consensus. At present, the most important task of the two sides is to make the "San Francisco Vision" a reality in accordance with the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, and promote the development of China-US relations along a healthy, stable and sustainable track. To this end, the two sides should adhere to the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, and actively explore the right way for the two major countries to get along. The US should view China's development in an objective and rational manner, pursue a positive and pragmatic China policy, and implement Biden's commitments and take concrete actions.
Wang Yi stressed that there is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is part of China's territory, and this is the real status quo of the Taiwan issue. What is trying to change this status quo is "the connivance of activities and outside forces." If the US really wants stability in the Taiwan Strait, it should abide by the one-China principle and the three China-US joint communiques, and implement its statement that it does not support "China".
Wang Yi stressed that turning "de-risking" into "going to China", building "small courtyards and high walls", and engaging in "decoupling from China" will eventually backfire on the United States itself. Wang Yi demanded that the US lift illegal unilateral sanctions on Chinese companies and individuals and not undermine China's legitimate development rights and interests.
The two sides exchanged views on carrying out people-to-people exchanges and facilitating people-to-people exchanges. Wang Yi urged the US side to stop unwarranted harassment and interrogation of Chinese citizens, and do more things that are conducive to enhancing mutual understanding between the two peoples. ”
The two sides agreed to maintain dialogue and communication in various fields and further implement the "San Francisco Vision" in the next stage of exchanges between the two countries at all levels. He spoke positively of the work of the Sino-US Anti-Narcotics Cooperation Working Group and looked forward to the positive results of the recent high-level meeting between the law enforcement departments of the two countries. We will continue to promote dialogue and consultation on foreign policy, Asia-Pacific affairs, maritime affairs, and artificial intelligence, and maintain communication between the two militaries.
The two sides also exchanged views on the Ukraine crisis, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the Korean Peninsula and other regional hotspot issues, and agreed that the special envoys of the two sides should maintain contacts. (ENDS).
