From the perspective of an interviewer, the interviewer expects the candidate to be logical and hierarchical within 3 minutesIntroduce your basic information, work history, educational background, past performance description, personal abilities, strengths, weaknesses and possible value to the companyDescription, and more. Although the candidate's resume is already written in detail, we still want the candidate to introduce himself, which is the main one:Candidates are examined for their adaptability, ability to work under pressure, logical ability, language skills, thinking density and self-awarenessBased on this, it is a preliminary judgment whether it is a talent that the enterprise needs.
We all know that the interview is very important, and many candidates have very good experience but do not perform well on the spot, and lose in the interview, resulting in regretful passing by the opportunity. Let me tell you a case here:
I remember this summer there was a candidate for marketing director, about 40 years old, with a bachelor's degree, and a resume with senior sales experience in the industry, and he was selected by me from more than 100 candidates. I communicated with him very well before, and his experience and ability fully meet the requirements of the position, especially since he has a working background in the same industry and position. So, I very warmly invited him to come to the company to communicate with the boss face-to-face, and he readily agreed.
On the day of the interview, he came as promised, everything went smoothly, and after a brief chat, I took him to meet the boss, who had listened to my grand introduction before, and was naturally very happy and enthusiastic. So I started the interview directly, but while chatting, I felt that something was wrong and that it had changed its taste. The whole audience was a person who kept talking, talking, and even interrupted the boss's speech several times, he talked for almost more than 20 minutes and did not enter the topic, I didn't hear a reason, I felt very unlayered, let alone logical, I listened to it in a daze, and urgently reminded him to return to the topic with his eyes, but unfortunately he didn't understand what I meant, and was still talking to himself there, immersed in his own thinking.
For an hour and a half of communication, 90% of the time he was talking, and we couldn't interject. In fact, at that moment, I felt that he did not have an in-depth understanding of our company, and was not familiar with the company's products, models, development history and culture. Then they say that it doesn't work here, it doesn't work there, they all need to be adjusted and innovated. When the boss asked him how to reform, he couldn't say why, and he couldn't give good measures and ideas. In fact, the boss also saw at this time that this candidate was very self-conscious, even proud, did not know how to communicate with people, did not know how to respect people, and it was very dangerous to sell in this way. But the boss still had a glimmer of hope and warmly invited him to visit the factory, but unfortunately, the candidate said that he didn't need to see it after half of the visit, and he knew the situation. seemed very conceited and blindly confident, and the boss had no choice but to give up when he heard this. The final result can be imagined, this candidate was passed.
This failed case has taught us a lot of inspiration and lessons, back to the topic, how do we prepare for the interview? How do you introduce yourself well and make the interviewer like and approve of yourself? How do you pass the interview successfully? Based on my years of experience, I summarize three points for reference:
First of all, it is important for everyone to be well prepared before the interview. This preparationThis includes reviewing the company's background, corporate culture, organizational structure, products, business model, performance, job requirements and responsibilities, and reporting relationships through various channels。Grasp this information as much as possible, so that you know it by heart. You can learn about it through friends and peers within the company. You have to know yourself and your opponent in order to deal with it freely. If you're not prepared, be prepared to fail. This book is a classic about interviews, written exams, resumes, etc., which can help you find a job efficiently, and those who are interested may wish to take a look.
Secondly, to do a good job in the structural design of self-introduction, just like a lecture, you need to carry out structural design. The main purpose of introducing yourself is to convey to the other person who you are? What have you ever done? What is the track record? What are your strengths in applying for this position? What value can it bring to the business? What to say in the closing remarks, etc., and these have to be structured.
You know, what do you want to hear most as an interviewer? What he wants to hear most is what are the advantages of your application for this position? What kind of capabilities do you have? What kind of value can it bring to the company in the future? This is used to determine whether the candidate is suitable or not. If the interviewer doesn't feel like the right person when the candidate introduces himself/herself, the interview usually doesn't take more than 30 minutes to over. So how do you say that?
Let me give you an example: a consulting company in Guangzhou wants to recruit a senior management consultant. The core keywords are master's degree, 5 years of independent consulting experience, more than 10 years of workplace management background, good communication skills and careful thinking, etc. What do you say about yourself?
You can say something like this: "Dear interviewer (or directly called Mr. XX) Hello, my name is xxx, I live in Baiyun District, Guangzhou, graduated with a master's degree in human resource management from CUHK in 95 years, graduated from Tsinghua MBA in 2000, I have 14 years of practical management experience in the workplace and 6 years of consulting work experience, I have served in xxx company, held xxx positions, achieved xxx achievements and performance, and later transformed into a consultant in 2016, independently serving as xxx project director and xxx project consultant, how many projects have I successfully delivered in 6 years, here are customer testimonials, how much performance I have brought to the company. I came to apply for this position today and I thought I had the following abilities: 1......2……3……These skills are exactly what your position requires, and I believe I can bring ...... to the companyand other values. Personally, my main strength lies in ......Finally, thank you very much for giving me this opportunity to interview, you can continue to ask me for details".
This kind of answer makes people sound very clear, neither humble nor arrogant, down-to-earth and generous, right, there is a sense of hierarchy and logic, 5 minutes before and after, without a word of nonsense, and closely related to the needs of the position, can effectively touch the heart of the interviewer, and instantly have a good impression of you. This sets the stage for the next interview.
Of course, this is just a general way to answer, and you can change and innovate on this basis! In short, there must be a sense of logic and hierarchy in the interview communication, forming a closed loop before and after, and the topic should be highly refined according to the needs of the position.
Finally, I recommend that you practice in front of the mirror at home before going to the interviewYou can even find a few girlfriends or friends to imitate the interview scene to practice, after many rehearsals, in order to make perfect, I also recommend that you write the content of the self-introduction as a verbatim transcript to memorize, so that it is more solid, more confident!
However, there are also some friends who say that there is no need to write it down, and it will be good to play on the spot when the time comes, if you are eloquent and flexible, you can play on the spot, but for those who are stupid and not good at speaking, you can't play on the spot. The preface does not match the afterword, there is a stammering situation, and a person who was originally strong loses in the interview! What a pity.
For those who are stupid and not good at speaking, I recommend practicing more. As the saying goes, the stupid bird flies first, as long as you practice dozens or hundreds of times at home, you memorize what you want to say well, and you can speak fluently when you meet anyone, then you will be fluent and natural in the interview.
