Flowers is a romantic TV series directed by the famous director Wong Kar-wai in Hong Kong, China, the drama gathers Hu Ge, Ma Yili, Tang Yan, Xin Zhilei, You Benchang, Zheng Kai, Dong Yong and Chen Long and many other well-known actors, telling the story of the early nineties of the last century, the era of Huanghuang, everyone competed for the top, and Ah Bao also became the president of Bao, who succeeded and failed, leaving a legend among the children of the tide in Shanghai. There have been golden brilliance, there have been fine waters, men and women, ups and downs, and the love and true stories of an era. Wong Kar-wai is a well-known and famous director in Hong Kong, China, and in the early years, he collaborated with Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung in many classic movies. In 2013, he directed the action martial arts film "The Grandmaster", which won many awards in Hong Kong and even internationally, and has also become a classic. 
However, after "The Grandmaster", director Wong Kar-wai has not released a film for ten consecutive years, until today he has moved to the TV drama circle and has been very successful. "Flowers" is the first TV series work directed by Wong Kar-wai, and this is the first TV series work, which has been praised by the audience. and on Douban, more than 100,000 viewers have now given the show a score of 8A high score of 1. It can be seen that Wong Kar-wai's "Flowers" has really won the hearts of the audience, and it has become a hit at the beginning of the year. 
However, no matter how good the work is, there will be bad reviews, even if the director is Wong Kar-wai, who has created countless classics, and even if he stars Hu Ge, Ma Yili, Xin Zhilei and other well-known powerhouses, the TV series "Flowers" will inevitably be criticized by some people, and it is inevitable that some viewers will think that it is a bad drama that has been overrated. And is "Flowers" really worth savoring, or is it an over-praised bad drama? 
The original work of the same name caused a lot of repercussions in 2012. Today, its adaptation is also attracting attention, but the two are still very different. In the original plot, there are two timelines, one lays out the memories of the sixties and seventies, and the other focuses on the life of Vientiane in the nineties. It is with Bao, Husheng and Xiaomao as the core protagonists, connecting Shanghai Shili Yangchang for 50 years. In the TV series, Ah Bao played by Hu Ge became the absolute first protagonist, and the remaining two were completely abandoned. 
But such an adaptation did not affect the quality of the series itself. You can think of it as another version of "Big River", and this version of "Big River" has Wong Kar-wai's own characteristics. But Wong Kar-wai's unique feature is very abrupt in a TV series. Audiences who have watched Wong Kar-wai's movies should know that his film works are all based on "romance", whether it is love, martial arts, or action movies, the color tone, set and actors' performances in the film give people a picturesque feeling. 
However, it doesn't seem very appropriate to put this kind of "romance" in a TV series. The picture of the TV series is mainly realistic, and putting very dazzling and complicated images on the small screen will not bring a great impact to the audience, and the small screen is not suitable for such a cool and eye-catching tone. If "Flowers" were a condensed movie, it might have received a higher rating, or it might have attracted more attention. The TV series restricts the greater development it deserves, but as a domestic drama in recent years, "Flowers" is indeed worth savoring, but it is not as good as imagined.
