The leakability test for flexible packaging is a method of testing the sealing performance of packaging materials, the purpose of which is to ensure that the product does not leak during transportation and storage after packaging. With the improvement of people's requirements for packaging safety performance, the leakage test of flexible packaging has become an important test item in the packaging industry.
There are many test methods for flexible packaging leakage tester, also known as flexible packaging leakage tester, tightness tester, sealing instrument, packaging leakage tester, and flexible packaging leakage tester, among which the commonly used ones are bubble method, dye penetration method, gas detection method, etc. The bubble method is to determine whether there is a leak by observing whether there are air bubbles coming out of the surface of the package.

Flexible packaging tightness tester test process.
1. Immerse the sample in a container containing liquid in a vacuum chamber. The topmost surface of the sample should be covered with liquid no less than 1 inch high.
Note 1: Two or more small leaks can be tested at the same time, but only if the leak can be observed in all parts of each package at the time of the test, and all packages must be placed in such a manner.
2. Close the lid of the vacuum chamber, close the outlet valve, open the vacuum, and slowly increase the barometer (about 1 inch hg s) until the selected vacuum degree is reached. The vacuum level selected must be as large as possible to ensure the best possible sensitivity for the test. Limiting factors include package brittleness, package expansion, and vapor pressure of the test liquid.
3. As the vacuum level rises, it is observed that the immersed sample is in the form of a series of smooth bubbles emerging from the flexible vessel, indicating that the leak has occurred. Individual bubbles caused by trapped air are not considered leaks. Also pay attention to the approximate increase in the packaging volume. The differential pressure in this test is the opposite of the increase in sample volume associated with it;Therefore, the significant increase in large volume weakens the severity of the test. Flexible packaging with or without headspace cannot be reliably evaluated using this test method.
4. Keep the vacuum degree in a specific period of time30 seconds is recommended, but this value can be determined based on careful consideration by the experimenter.
5. Release the vacuum, remove the lid, and check whether there is any test liquid on the sample.
