On a night march, the farmer asks for directions, and encounters enemy sentinels
Yan Zhenshan, an old Eighth Road, once joined the martial arts team of the Tai'an (South) County Public Security Bureau during the Anti-Japanese War, responsible for intelligence work and eradicating traitors. He endured hardships and perseverance until the victory of the revolution.
Today, he tells the story of his time during the War of Liberation. One of the most legendary is how he takes prisoners to training. At the end of 1947, according to the instructions of the East China Bureau, only 15 people remained in the Tai'an County Public Security Bureau, and all the rest were transferred to the Bohai District Jianda to participate in training and study.
Yan Zhenshan is one of these 15 people. One day, Yan Zhenshan received a special task: to take a prisoner to participate in training. The prisoner is a fugitive who has not been able to find a suitable way to deal with him since he was caught by the Public Security Bureau.
Yan Zhenshan decided to bring the prisoner to the training, hoping that he could change his attitude and become a new person during the training. He told the prisoner that attending the training was a new beginning, and that if he could perform well, perhaps the Public Security Bureau would consider giving him a chance to be a new person.
Although the prisoner was a little uneasy in his heart, he also knew that this was a rare opportunity. He decided to take his training seriously and strive to be able to become a new person. After a period of training, the prisoner performed well, not only learned a lot of knowledge and skills, but also changed his attitude.
In the end, the Public Security Bureau decided to release him and give him a chance to start a new life. Although Yan Zhenshan's decision caused some controversy at the time, he firmly believed that his choice was right.
He believes that everyone has the possibility to change themselves, and if they are given a chance, they will seize it. This story teaches us that everyone has the potential to make mistakes, but if they are given a chance, they will change themselves.
We should have faith in everyone and give them a chance to prove their worth.
Zhang Honglin, director of the Public Security Bureau of the Special Administration, believes that there is no need to take a long detour to Qingzhou, but chooses to go directly to Boshan. However, the road was not smooth, and one or two thousand cadres, soldiers, and some important prisoners from the county public security bureaus of the special office gathered together and faced considerable difficulties.
On the first day of the Lunar New Year, we enjoyed a delicious meal of dumplings at Boshan Xiazhuang, and then continued on to our destination. On the fifth day of the first lunar month, we finally arrived at Zhangdian, but the march at night was not smooth, the weather was cold and thawed that day, and the road was muddy and difficult to walk.
We got lost near Koda Station, and although someone brought a compass, the direction of the two compasses was inconsistent, which made us even more confused and unable to determine the correct direction.
Although an experienced person observes the surroundings, it is still impossible to determine the direction. We groped our way across the railroad in the dark and passed it again on our return. We felt more and more lost, and walked one foot at a time.
At dawn the next day, we found a small village, so we sent to look for a family and ask for directions, but unexpectedly we ran into an enemy.
Unfortunately, as soon as we arrived at the north house of the house we were asking, we encountered a machine gun squad of the enemy, and when we went out, we ran into the enemy's mobile post, so a fierce exchange of fire broke out.
Our ranks gradually retreated during the battle, and unfortunately, the ranks were scattered. At this moment, the sun was about to rise, and we finally identified the direction and ran towards the glowing northeast direction - the Bohai Sea.
As soon as the team arrived at Wangjiazhuang north of Zhang Zhao, they encountered a battalion of the enemy. Fortunately, because of the large number of our guns, they did not dare to act rashly. During this operation, the prisoners strictly followed the rules and did not escape, so there were basically no losses.
However, when we counted the number of people after arriving at our destination, it was found that one prisoner and a sentenced pseudo-district chief had escaped.
They once performed well in the Laiwu County Public Security Bureau, and later participated in the study in Bohai and completed the "three inspections and three rectifications". In the first half of 1948, they carried out class formation study in Weifang, with Yan Qingsan in charge, to study the instructions of the East China Bureau.
After returning from their studies, they returned to Tai'an Pass, met with the comrades who stayed behind, and found that Dai Guangyun had been shot and wounded in the face during the battle of Yanglou. Director Xu Xiaozhou was transferred, Kang Jingdu was transferred to the director, Dai Guangyun was in charge of the cadre and education unit, Qi Zhangsen was in charge of the reconnaissance unit, Zhao Qiang was in charge of the interrogation unit, and the secretary was Shi Baoluo, Kang Jingdu's wife, who was in charge of clerical work.
With the addition of the political guard and plainclothes investigation teams, there are more than 50 people in the whole world. A sub-bureau has been set up in Tai'an City, the director is Xu Xiaozhou, and there is a Wenkou police station. After the liberation of Tai'an, the Public Security Bureau of the Taishan Special Administration was transferred to the central and southern districts of Lu, and Taixi transferred a Ma Dong to take charge of the interrogation unit.
After the Battle of Jinan, some people stayed in Jinan, and some people went south. At the beginning of 1949, Kang Jingdu was transferred to the Public Security Bureau of the Special Administration, and Liu Zhigang took over as the director.
Qi Zhangsen succeeded Liu Zhigang in presiding over the work, and I was in charge of the pre-trial work. This is the oral memory of Comrade Yan Zhenshan, compiled by Liu Xiaodong on July 10, 2021.
