On February 14, 2024, Ukraine sank a Russian warship in the Black Sea. This is the Ukrainian military intelligence agency in a joint operation, using an unmanned boat, rammed and sank a Russian battleship Kaiser-Kunikov, which was heavily damaged and has sunk to the bottom of the sea.

The Ukrainian unmanned ship crashed into "Caesar" Konikov.

It was only earlier this month that Ukraine sank a Russian missile ship "Ivanowits" in the same way.

The Kaiser Kunikov is a giant landing ship of the Ropcha-class of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. The ship, which was commissioned in 1986, was named after the famous Soviet figure Kaiser Luvich Kunikov (Kouvinsky) and is located at the Gdansk shipyard in Poland. Kunikov was a Marine Corps commander who led a landing army to capture the beachhead in Malaya Zemlia, helping the Soviets win World War II.

The first mission of Kaiser Kunikov was to transport troops and equipment on the ground. It can carry 300 men, 10 tanks, 25 armoured vehicles and 4 helicopters. In addition, the ship is equipped with part of the artillery and missiles in case of emergency.

Russia and Georgia sparked a fierce conflict over control of two disputed regions, South Ossetia and Abkhazia, in the 2008 battle for South Ossetia.

The Russian Navy sent a flotilla of Kaiser Kunikov to the Black Sea to support the Russian army. The flotilla fought a fierce battle with the Georgian Navy off the coast of Abkhazia, sinking a Georgian patrol ship and also taking away part of the officers and equipment. It was also the first combat show of Kaiser Kunikov.

As the civil war in Syria intensified, Russia intervened and provided assistance to Bashar al-Assad's regime in the fight against opposition and radical groups. In order to cooperate with Russian air strikes, the Russian Navy has regularly sent arms to Syria.

Black Sea landing ships play a key role, as they do not need to pass through the Bosphorus Strait in Turkey to reach Syria's major ports. The two "Syrian" spacecraft were named "Kaiser Kunikov".

The third battle was the Russian-Ukrainian campaign, which was fought quite tragically.

On March 24, 2022, Kaiser Kunikov was attacked by a Ukrainian drone and was so badly damaged that the ship's forward deck caught fire and was forced to leave the port of Berdyansk. On the same day, another landing ship, Saratov, also sank in the harbor, which was a huge blow to the Russian Navy.

On April 18, 2022, Kesar Kunikov was attacked again, killing the captain of the ship, Alexander Chilva, one of the senior generals of the Russian Navy lost in this campaign.

With severe international sanctions imposed on Russia, the Russian Navy was unable to obtain sufficient spare parts to repair damaged ships, and Kaiser Kunikov and another landing ship, Novocherkassk, were forced to shut down in August 2022 and became "paralyzed".

The "Kaiser Kunikov" was severely hit on February 14, 2024, when the Ukrainian intelligence service, using the unmanned water vessel Magula (Magula) V5, attacked Kaiser Kunikov and sank it in the Crimean city of Alupka.

This is another heavy blow to the Ukrainian side for the Russian Black Sea Navy, and it will also be its end.
