On April 20, 2019, the School of Marxism of Peking University held an advanced research class on management thought of Peking University, and invited Dr. Chen Zhanyun, a famous economist, expert member of the China Federation of Commerce, and a national natural science evaluation expert, to give a wonderful speech with continuous applause. When discussing the topic of how entrepreneurs can become stronger and bigger, Professor Chen said: Great love makes great causes, and great sacrifice can make great gains. Enterprises should have the value consciousness of "doing good deeds and doing their own shame" and establish a correct sense of social responsibility.
The picture shows Professor Chen Zhanyun giving a lecture at the senior research class of Peking University on the same day.
In the eyes of Professor Chen, the long history of the development of Confucianism has always run through the word "responsibility", "responsibility" for oneself, others and society, self-cultivation and unity to govern the country and level the world, the rise and fall of the family and the country, and Confucianism regards this spirit of benefiting the world as a benchmark.
For this spirit of burning oneself and dedicating oneself to others, Professor Chen also mentioned the Zuckerbergs, the founders of "Facebook" in the United States. In the "Charity Chronicle" weekly reported, the Zuckerbergs donated nearly $1 billion worth of money to the Silicon Valley Community Association, leading the American charity list. In 2015, Zuckerberg announced that he would donate a part of his shares to charity every year until he donated 99% of his shares, becoming a business giant who donated generously. His sense of personal responsibility, entrepreneur and entrepreneur social responsibility has played an important role in the cause. This may be in line with the saying: "A truly top-tier company must integrate social responsibility into its core business." Regarding the responsibility of entrepreneurs, Professor Chen also emphasized the book "Evergreen", Professor Chen believes that the sense of responsibility of entrepreneurs should be the embodiment of diversity, and the root of it is his contribution to the country and society. "Evergreen" selected 18 outstanding and long-lasting companies for in-depth research, including General Electric, 3M, Merck, Walmart, HP, Disney, etc., which have a history of nearly 100 years. The gist of the book is that the fundamental reason why a group of people come together to form a company is that they can't do it on their own in order to do something together – to "contribute to society" rather than to be driven by profit. How a company contributes to the society on the basis of profit, so as to be recognized by the society and has a core concept, this is the fundamental creed of a company's long-term prosperity.
In fact, while teaching entrepreneurs to learn great love and responsibility, Professor Chen Zhanyun has been working in philanthropy for many years. As early as 2012, when Han Yan, a reporter from Urban Construction Magazine, interviewed Professor Chen Zhanyun, she talked about the "Love Egg Project" that Professor Chen has been working hard to do. Nearly 20 years ago, Professor Chen accidentally saw the hardships and thin bodies of the local children in a remote primary school, so he had the idea of giving the children an egg every day to show love. Over the years, Professor Chen Zhanyun and his student team have still insisted on sending countless eggs to primary school students in poor areas in a simple way. While lecturing around the world, Professor Chen hopes to drive more students to actively participate in it through words and deeds, so that small eggs can condense into big golden eggs. For example, under the advocacy and efforts of Professor Chen Zhanyun, Jining Love Eggs has been established for ten years, respectively, to 86 primary schools in 11 townships and towns of Nanxin, Wucun, Wangzhuang, Shimenshan, Fangshan, Xicheng Town, Yaocun Town, Xiaoxue Street Office, Lingcheng Town, Shizhuang Street Office, and Shuyuan Street Office, donating more than 33,180 pounds of love eggs, 4,130 primary school students, and funding 9 primary school students from difficult families in Fangshan Township for six consecutive years, every year "June Day" They all sent condolences money, books and school supplies. An egg is nothing to people who have no worries about food and clothing, but in the eyes of poor children in rural areas, a simple act of kindness is a great help to them! Charity has a deep cultural soil in traditional culture, the ancients said, with a benevolent heart is called kindness, and the act of helping the poor is called good.
Now, when asked about life values, Professor Chen Zhanyun responded earnestly: "I have been thinking about how I should live the rest of my life. I feel like I should do something worthwhile every year to influence people I know well, to benefit them, and to make them remember me. For example, the research results I do every year can help some companies, and it is also to do something for this society, so that life is wonderful and happy. Whether it is doing business or investment, doing research or writing books, or being a person and doing things, Chen Zhanyun is full of positive and optimistic vitality.
Enterprises become bigger and stronger, inseparable from the understanding, support and help of all sectors of society, so entrepreneurs should assume social responsibility, in addition to contributing taxes, providing products and services, and creating jobs, doing charity and public welfare is a good way to repay the society. Chairman Li Yuliang, a student in the class, said: "Professor Chen Zhanyun's lectures are sincere and pragmatic, and many ideas are explained in one word, giving people the feeling of enlightenment. Obviously, social responsibility has become an important part of the core competitiveness of enterprises, and enterprises should set an example and fulfill their social responsibilities if they want to go far. How much the quality of an entrepreneur is condensed, determines how successful the entrepreneur's business can be, entrepreneurs should lay a good foundation for the enterprise with a broad vision, lay the foundation for the enterprise culture, and continue the genes for the subsequent development of the enterprise, in order to truly develop and prosper.
