As a sequel to the 86 version of "Journey to the West", why is the sequel to "Journey to the West" completely inferior to the 86 version?
It stands to reason that the same director and screenwriter, as well as the boss's starring role, are also involved, so what about his evaluation not as good as the 86 version? I think there are several reasons for this.
The first is dress-up, and the sequel's dress-up of both the master and apprentice and the monster is far inferior to the boss. Let's take Brother Monkey as an example.
We can see that the new version of the monkey hair is all yellow and yellow, which looks fluffy, which is completely worse than the old version of the monkey brother's hairy monkey hair! It stands to reason that 15 years have passed, and all technologies have improved, and when it comes to the sequel, the makeup technology has actually regressed, which is outrageous!
The second is to add drama indiscriminately, "Journey to the West Sequel" is basically exactly the same as the Zhejiang version of the Zhang version, that is, to add drama to female characters, and even fabricate some characters that are not at all in the original book out of thin air, just like the Peacock Princess, except for the episode of Qingniu, the sequel has all female characters, and even the python spirit has been changed to a female.
86 version, except for the black fox next to Mrs. White Bone, the other female characters are basically characters in the original book, and when it comes to the sequel, it is out of thin air and adds some female characters that are not at all in the original book, and there is no significance to the plot at all.
Third, it's the play, I think the sequel is too cumbersome, of course, the original book does like to use the description of dozens of rounds at every turn, but the background sound is also very head-catching when the sequel starts! Six years later, CCTV's "Baolian Lantern" I think it is obviously much better than "Journey to the West Sequel" in terms of special effects and martial arts.
The above are my personal opinions on the sequel to "Journey to the West".
