United 1944" as a first-person war-themed multiplayer shooter, although the game itself does not have a rich variety of guns, first-class shooting feel and action connection, the graphics are far from exquisite, but such and such problems, after all, it is still understandable, after all, this is only an independent game with limited development costs, and it is still a little unrealistic to expect Novarama to bring us a game masterpiece with the specifications of the Battlefield series. In this game, players will experience a wonderful game that combines common elements of survival building games such as base building and manufacturing with team strategy shooting.
Since this game is still in the early access stage, therefore, this article is only as my actual experience of the current version during the game, if the update in the later game improves some aspects, you are also welcome to point it out in time.
When I first got my hands on the game, it was hard for me not to think about the Battlefield series, which is also a war theme. In fact, the 32-player capacity in "United 1944", that is, the 16vs16 attack mode, is also borrowed from the conquest mode in the Battlefield series. The difference is that the game has added base construction and other gameplay, and the **, ammunition, and even medical kits in the player's hand need to be obtained by scavenging resources for construction. The introduction of the item crafting system makes the game rhythm of this game different from the atmosphere of the battlefield in the Battlefield series, and players cannot be like the soldiers in "Battlefield V", brainless charge, bullets and medical kits will have an unlimited supply of corresponding troops.
The War-League 1944 experience is more focused on small-scale, slow-paced guerrilla warfare. There's also another survival mode in which players form teams with up to two companions and compete against seven other squads in an area for resources. Compared with the attack mode with only red and blue, the survival mode undoubtedly requires players to deal with it more carefully and tests the team's cooperation.
It's a pity that "War League 1944" is currently only available in these two modes, although these two modes were still fun when I played, and there are only three large maps in the game, as a standalone game, the difficulty of developing the game is always understandable. However, from a player's point of view, the lack of content can easily make players lose the desire to repeat after playing a game or two. If there's anything worth starting again, it's the skill tree mechanic in the game.
In the game, players can give priority to unlocking their favorite **, buildings, or health kits and other miscellaneous items according to their preferences. Yes, players can level up by killing enemies, etc., and then add points to the skill tree to build their own genre. Since the skill points that can be obtained in a game are limited, this requires players to consider how to add points to their strengths to contribute to the team, whether it is a medical soldier to support their comrades, or an engineer to work on infrastructure with peace of mind, or simply to be a brave soldier to charge, or want to be an all-round bucket soldier, the skill tree mechanism in the alliance makes the boundary of the division of troops no longer obvious, and players can freely DIY their own characters. The introduction of the skill tree mechanic has undoubtedly made the game more strategic.
Of course, there are still some deficiencies in the game, such as the guns in the game, which are still not good in terms of balance, and Garand, who is the strongest gun in the game, is not one of them. It's possible that a shuttle of submachine guns won't kill the other side, and the other side will be able to take you away with a few bullets from Garand. The issue of gun balance is still more important for a multiplayer PvP shooter.
Another example is the distribution of construction resources in the game, interestingly, most of the survival game resources are often given more picking, and the situation of the battle alliance is different, he is so generous, so that I only need to go around the base a few times, the resources can fill the backpack, and before I run out of resources, the surrounding buildings are refreshed with new materials, which causes the tension of resource shortage to disappear completely. Of course, this may also be due to the fact that the game itself has few players. Yes, as a multiplayer shooter, the number of players in War Alliance 1944 is so small that it is difficult for players to assemble a battle with enough people in a short period of time, and I often only have a few players when I play.
And there are quite serious flaws in the game's matchmaking mechanics. There are few players in the game, and if the player starts survival mode, the matchmaking mechanism will not arrange teammates for you according to the number of people on the current server, but will directly become a lone wolf battle. Yes, there are nine players in survival mode, but instead of being divided into three teams, nine lone wolf players fight each other. The sparse number of people makes it difficult for players to fully experience the thrill of the game, and more often than not, there are only empty ruins and endless resources.
If Novarama is not going to be the next Frontier, the top priority is to attract players to play it, or add some PVE content, solo or with two or three friends, otherwise it will be difficult for me to play a multiplayer PvP game with almost no players.
In general, the game is still promising in the future, and the appearance is still very good, but for now, unless it is a core audience, enthusiastic players who want to support this work, it is still recommended to wait and see the future development of the game, after all, everyone does not want to play the next "Border".
