The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom was like a child's play, indiscriminately dressing and changing the calendar
In just three or four years, Hong Xiuquan has created "heaven and earth, heaven on earth", which is an undeniable miracle. The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom is full of peculiar stories, they were formed from a group of charcoal burners, although they had a low level of education and little knowledge, but once they came to prominence, they began to imitate the Qing Dynasty bureaucracy and established a system of official ranks, although there was no official uniform, but it still appeared rigorous.
The symbol of the Qing Dynasty is the "complement" on the chest, and the embroidery of the dragon or crane represents the grade of the **. The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, on the other hand, regarded the official uniforms of the Qing Dynasty as "demon costumes", and they preferred costumes and regarded them as important trophies.
Historical records show that the uniforms of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom were not uniform, but rather disorderly.
On September 25, 1851, the Taiping army successfully conquered Yong'an, which was also the first time they captured a large city after their uprising. According to military documents, they even fought each other in order to compete for costumes in the city, resulting in the death of four people, and the costumes were torn into three sections.
The outfit of this act was very important to them, so much so that after conquering Yong'an, the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom's first task was to carry out the "Yong'an crown". However, as the situation had not yet stabilized and the economic situation of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom was very difficult, Hong Xiuquan did not take the suggestion, but chose a few dignified-looking costumes from the newly occupied theater as the king's official uniform.
According to records, what Feng Yunshan, the king of the south, got was a costume with a grimace of Hunan opera, and this dress was attached to a mask, which made Wei Changhui, the king of the north, feel very frightened, and even almost fell into madness.
Although there may be some exaggerations and fictions in this account, it can at least prove that the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom was very chaotic at that time.
There are problems with the costumes and calendars of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, and the official costumes are designed to be a combination of Chinese and Western, but they look nondescript, and there are obvious traces of costumes. In addition, the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom's calendar was so wrong that they abolished the ancestral calendar and created a new calendar, but it did not require leap years and leap months.
This calendar is 18 hours longer than the actual year, with 16 more days every forty years and a month difference every forty years. Hong Xiuquan tried to correct this mistake, but his methods only made the problem worse.
Fortunately, the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom only existed for 16 years, otherwise the question might have turned out hilarious more than a hundred years later.
