DHL, the world's leading provider of international express delivery services, has expanded its presence in Norfolk by relocating to a facility that has more than doubled in size. Now, the company is a full-service business, handling shipments and serving customers directly at its new retail ServicePoint counter. The $7.3 million investment increased freight capacity and accelerated processing, resulting in a late pickup deadline for shippers in the Eastern Virginia region.

"With this new facility, DHL is excited to expand and enhance its ability to serve international shippers in one of the largest export markets in the U.S. and continue to help customers large and small take advantage of business growth opportunities abroad," said Nemer Abohasen. Vice President and General Manager, DHL Express.

With more than 30 operations and management personnel, the new service center can handle up to 2,000 shipments per hour, handling U.S. domestic and limited-time international shipments to and from the 225 countries and territories served by DHL Express. The growth of local parcel delivery is driven by B2B and B2C e-commerce shipping and companies that provide services to federal contractors and other U.S.**-related organizations.

The facility is also equipped with charging stations, as it will soon launch all-electric pickup trucks and delivery vehicles. This supports DHL Group's sustainability roadmap to electrify 60% of its global delivery fleet by 2030.
