Original poem
The desire for happiness
Text Goethe. Don't tell anyone, only the wise, because the crowd will be sneering:
I praise the creature that longs to die in the flames.
In the coolness of the night of love, you are created, you are created, and when the silent candle flame spits out the light, you are disturbed by strange sensations.
You don't want to be wrapped up any longer.
Within the dark shadows, new longings draw you.
to complete the mating of the next level.
You are not afraid of the long distance, flying around, drunk and infatuated.
O moth thirsting for light, you have been consumed by the flames at last.
When you still don't understand.
This "death and change" principle, you are just a melancholy passer-by, in this dark world.
Appreciation
Throughout his life, Goethe never stopped writing poetry, and his works lasted from 1770 to 1830. Goethe is one of the most important writers in Germany and Europe with an astonishing number of works, and this poem "The Desire for Happiness" is about 200 years old.
The Desire for Happiness" is a rich, motivated lyric poem: "Do not tell others, but only the wise"; And it is a lyric with desire and feelings: "You are created, you also create". At the same time, we also feel the poet's feelings: "A new desire attracts you to complete a higher level of mating", at this time, the poet gives more explicit and metaphorical meanings to the attributes of people and society.
Readers who know Goethe's profile will see this sentence: his (Goethe's) work is full of the anti-judgment spirit of the Hurricane Movement! In fact, this is the style of his works, Goethe in addition to poetry, drama, prose and other aspects have high achievements. His masterpiece "Faust" is an immortal tragic poetic drama that combines realism and romanticism, which runs through Goethe's life in terms of ideology and art.
Sometimes, we have behaved unwillingly, although it cannot be said to be useless, nor can it be described as stupid; Of course, it is better to be realistic, and this requires the ability to have a correct understanding of life, otherwise "O moth thirsting for light, you are finally swallowed by flames"! The purpose of the poet is to clarify the natural attributes of consciousness and behavior, which do not violate the fortune of the times, as the poet said: the truth of "death and change"!
The desire for happiness is some portrait of life: "You are a melancholy passerby", the only constant is change, and the social phenomenon poet of the time truthfully shouted "in this dark earthly world".
Two centuries have passed, and if Goethe were still alive, I wonder what his desire for happiness was!? Can the phrase, "You don't want to continue to be wrapped in that dark shadow," can you be freed!?
