On February 26, a 2024 China-Japan-South Korea (Xiamen) Seedling Technology Seminar with the theme of "Opportunities and Challenges of Soilless Cultivation Technology Exchange Conference" was held in Tong'an. The three-day academic event brought together many scientific research elites to explore new technologies such as improved seed breeding, breeding innovation, and soilless cultivation, and also opened a new chapter in cross-strait agricultural exchanges and cooperation.

This event has become an important carrier of knowledge collision and exchange, experts from home and abroad shared the latest research results, ** the current challenges in agricultural research, and provided participants with a comprehensive perspective on the seedling technology of China's vegetable industry.

Taiwan compatriot Huang Yuru, a vegetable farmer in Taiwan's Yunlin County, rushed from Taiwan to Tong'an to attend the exchange meeting. She said that she hopes to find better quality seedlings and learn more advanced soilless cultivation techniques.

The vigorous development of the seed and seedling industry in Tong'an District in recent years has been due to the contribution of Xiamen Tong'an Fujian and Taiwan Agricultural Integration Development (Seed and Seedling) Industrial Park. As the only seed and seedling industrial park in the province in Fujian and Taiwan, Xiamen Tong'an Fujian and Taiwan Agricultural Integration Development (Seed and Seedling) Industrial Park aims to build a "seed industry silicon valley" in southern Fujian, deeply implements the seed industry revitalization action, strengthens exchanges and cooperation with Taiwan, introduces talents and funds, and gradually becomes an important carrier and demonstration window for the deep integration of seed and seedling enterprises, the exhibition and trading center of South China's seed industry, and the deep integration of agriculture on both sides of the strait. Up to now, the industrial park has introduced a total of 28 Taiwan-funded agricultural enterprises, with an average annual investment of more than 5 million US dollars, and more than 100 Taiwanese compatriots and Taiwanese farmers have started businesses and developed in the park.

Today, Tong'an District has become an important seed and seedling distribution center in Fujian Province and even in China. According to the data, the annual sales volume of seeds in Tong'an is currently 1260,000 kilograms, the annual sales volume of seedlings reached 05.7 billion plants, with an annual sales revenue of more than 1100 million yuan, is one of the main wholesale markets for vegetable seeds and seedlings in China. Next, Tong'an District will build a national Taiwan Farmers' Pioneer Park based on the industrial park.
